OK, Hammocks Beach State Park and Bear Island aren't for everyone. It requires a small ferry trip and a 15 minute walk across the island (that's 15 minutes for a healthy family of four). Bear Island is a great place to get away to if you are looking for a nice, quiet beach without all the usual beach traffic. Great natural setting.
