Let me just begin by saying that I live within 45 minutes of this attraction, but until last year, I had no idea just how special this place was, even though I had heard several things about it. My wife and I decided to give it a try, and we were just amazed/pleased by the following things... 1. The wide... More

My husband & I discovered this place by researching on trip advisor!!! What a great find! The birds are from all over the world and are being raised to keep them from extinction!!! There are birds, peacocks, ducks, emu, flamingo! It's too bad that North Carolina doesn't promote this Sylvan Heights Waterfowl Park !!!! Truly a great educational trip for... More

This place would be amazing ANYPLACE, but is all the more amazing because it's located in the middle of rural North Carolina. You could spend days here observing the birds in their well-designed and accessible aviaries. The place is a photographer's dream. The birds on display change with the seasons, so if you can get here a few times during... More

This place is close to Roanoke Rapids or Rocky Mount. If you are in the area it's worth a stop. The birds and waterfowl are numerous. The park is clean and family oriented. There are lots of posters informing about the birds. It's a great way to relax and enjoy with the whole family. The staff is friendly and will... More

What a wonderful surprise to find this gem in tiny Scotland Neck, NC! So many beautiful birds -- many in open aviaries which allow walking among them. This is a "don't miss" attraction. More

This site has been world-renowned for its water-fowl breeding programs for many years. It has only recently (within the last few years) opened a visitor's center and started encouraging visitors. Pluses: Many of the birds are kept in aviaries open to the sky, grouped by continent, that you enter to get up close to them. There are a large variety... More

My husband and I have just returned from an outing to Sylvan Heights Waterfowl Park. What a wonderful way to spend the afternoon! We were greeted by the girl at the ticket booth, who gave us a brief rundown and a map of the park. We were amazed as we strolled through the areas of the park at the enormous... More

We retired to the area after living all over the US and Europe. We were so amazed to find this fantastic park hidden here that we purchase a family membership every year. We have had many family and friends visit us and they all have been blown away by the collection of birds...not JUST waterfowl. More
