This is one of my favorite courses I have played! I live about a 2 hour drive away and it is totally worth the effort to get over there. Having played this course numerous times, it keeps getting better and better. One of my good friends from Vegas flew out to play and was overwhelmed at how beautiful and challenging... More

Uoducks1999, A thought to keep in mind the next time you go for #11 in two…the shortest distance between two points is a straight line...which is easier said than done when you aren’t the one standing in the fairway! Please keep making the trip, bringing new people, and sharing with them the adventure of discovering the beauty and mystique of... More

Tobacco Road is set in the Sandhills of NC, about an hour drive from North Raleigh area. I loved this golf course, each hole is an adventure! It was a "cart path only" day when we played, because of all the rain the night before. The large sand areas are drivable with golf cart. The ladies' tees give women a... More

RZTR, The spirit of adventure is synonymous with the spirit of the game. Mike Strantz was believer in building anticipation and giving the player the opportunity to successfully execute shots they would normally deem above their ability. In an interview with Strantz while Tobacco Road was under construction, he spoke of the excitement of hitting a good shot, the anticipation... More

This is a one of a kind golf course. It's a roller coaster ride and a ton of fun. Tee shots are target golf but around and on the greens are where imagination and creativity reign supreme. Download the app before playing because it's a life saver. The course is visually intimidating but it's not as hard as it looks.

Tbooker127, *Golf Clap!* We could not have phrased it any better ourselves. In an interview with Mike Strantz while Tobacco Road was under construction, he knew he had a chance to build a golf course that was “not only spectacular, but also unique.” Strantz believed that giving a player the opportunity to hit a shot they believe to be impossible... Some would call this tricked up due to all the blind shots. While that is true, the landing areas are more than ample so if you can negotiate the trouble there is room. Some of the greens are small and one will do better the second time around. Nonetheless the course was in far better condition than either Pinehurst #9... More

Dear Cybersebor, Very astute observations about navigating the golf course, there are plenty of ample fairways and generous landing areas that make for excellent scoring. Without a doubt, our maintenance crew is one of the hardest working in the business, (not that we are bias), and they have the course in immaculate playing condition. I will be sure to pass... More

This facility is a lot out of the ordinary. Quirky holes and massive waste bunkers throughout. Very challenging but more fun each time we play it. We just keep coming back hoping to beat the course one day.

Dear Airsucker, The quest to beat the course is perhaps the greatest challenge of any player’s career. The secret is to relish the unique challenge each individual course offers. We are very glad you continue to enjoy Tobacco Road and we hope to see you again soon. As always, thank you for the feedback, and keep it in the short... More

One of the most difficult golf courses I have ever played, including Sawgrass and others and it ate my lunch. Having said that I can't wait to play it again. It is an incredibly interesting and beautiful course, the maintenance is awesome and the people oozing with southern friendliness. .

Eric T, Thanks for the five-star rating! We appreciate your feedback regarding course conditions and our staff. We have an excellent golf course superintendent and staff who work extremely hard to keep the course in premier playing conditions. Your praise will be passed along and we hope you make it back soon for that replay. Wishing you fairways and greens,... More

I played the course as part of a package deal with a group. One person HATED this course but I LOVED the course. Most of the group of 8 would play it again and again, but if you are a high handicapper get ready for a LONG and BRUTAL day. Immaculate course, but the first time around it is a... More

What can you say but that it is an experience. Unlike any other golf course you have ever played or are likely to play. Brutally tough, full of hidden shots, elevated (very elevated) greens, and narrow, zig zagging fairways. What made it even tougher was the fact that it was cart path only the day we played. A mountain goat... More

This course has more than enough sand to make your day miserable. First tip is avoid it; second is to get out the shortest route. Beautiful course with very challenging holes. Ok boys...if you want a unique golf experience, head to Tobacco Road Golf Club.
