We are going to Salvo in spring with our longboards to surf. The rental in not on the beach. Is there public parking with beach access ? Or what is the best and easiest way to bring all the gear to the beach?.....i guess drop everything off with the car....return the car to the house....and walk. Any advise is appreciated.... More

Great weather, rented a house on the beach, no other way to go!! 100 yards to the beach through the sand dunes and beach is gorgeous. Definitely recommend!!

Peaceful, quiet, LOTS of beach to enjoy WITHOUT being "towel to towel". Our dog got to enjoy the beach for the first time too. Really amazing and not a tourist trap.

The beach towns of North Carolina's Outer Banks are remarkably diverse, ranging from the sprawling commercial developments of Nags Head and Kittyhawk to the isolated communities of Ocracoke and Carova. If your preference is for something on the quieter end of that spectrum but somewhere you won't need a 4-wheel drive vehicle just to get to the beach, then Salvo... More

We stayed in a house 1 street over from the homes on the beach or more accurately on this side of the huge dunes, my Wife & I are in our 50s & those dunes were one heck of a walk up then down the other side to the beach, & back again, that's the big & only downside to... More

One of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Salvo is hidden on Hatteras island, and a lot of people simply pass through Salvo, never stopping to see it's beauty. Sawgrass surrounds you, with plenty of area to drive 4x4 vehicles so you can get so close to the water. Birds are everywhere, fish are plenty, and this place is... More

Great beach, not crowded, bit of a hike through the dunes, but lovely site. Gave sense of isolated beach, no view of houses or businesses.

Anyone that's been to OBX before should know that theirs literally nothing to do here except relax, swim, fish, wind surf. I suggest renting a home with private pool. Bring all your food and drinks you'll need for stay. Store is quite a hike. This is the place to get away from the hustle and bustle. The home we rented... More

I rented Serenity Cove on the sound side. Great property for extended family. Had to cross highway to get to beach. I was disappointed that there was little to do in town and had to travel 15 miles to get to grocery store. This was my first visit to Outer Banks. Next time I will stay further north where there is... This confederate memorial and cemetery is just off the main highway. There was very little to see. The parks dept. said it was under emergency something.
