Most people think that all the mountain bike tracks in Bright are in the pines - wrong! Valley View is an awesome technical downhill trail that links at the bottom to Dermots Trail - take a left at the bottom to ride Dermots through to Walkers Lane. Other native mountain bike trails are off Huggins Lookout, Apex Hill (on the... More

This is a real bush walking experience but the map I printed from the website does not reflect the true walking trail. The trail is a long longer & zig-Zaggy to go up the mountain but at one point, we just did a u-turn as we weren't sure where the trail would lead us too. Due to all the trees... More

On arrival in Bright one can't help but notice the beauty of the place, its forty odd years since we were in Bright last and it has not changed that much at all, still as beautiful. the autunm tones of the trees are a picture, unfortunately the weather was against us as being quite wet but the scenery was not... Although there are several :Easy" walks, within the Bright area, the Valley Vies walk is moderate to medium in comparison. The starting point is on Hargreaves Street, but visit the information centre for much more details. Click on the site below for a downloadable PDF, of the walks within the Bright area that we found very interesting and comprehensive. http://www.alpinevalleygetaways.com.au/f.ashx/Bright-Wandi-Short-Walks.pdf

The whole area around Bright and Mt Buffalo has some of the most fantastic walks of the Victorian High Country.

The Ovens River around here is all rapids, forest and beautiful vegetation + there is the history of gold mining in this area - and signs for observant along the trail.

great to walk along in the cool of the evening. Saw a platypus in the steam. Not many places to see these in the wild with easy access.

We walked into town from our accommodation , taking our time to enjoy the ovens river and its wildlife, which took 30 mins each way . Take trip on the left bank for better views and come back on the other side.
