Snow. We were out and about when the weather closed us down so our views of this unusual rock formation was somewhat curtailed. Then we sought lunch in a resteraunt and found we had secured a fantastic winter view of these stone formations.....would love to visit again in summer.

Breath taking scenary, beautiful walks and plenty of great climbing for all levels. Make sure you see the Bastei Bridge just outside of Hohnstein and also Bad Schandau is a beautiful town on the riverside

A large amount of bizzare sandy rocks which in former times just were the ground of the sea. Unbelievable even when you directly look at it. Don't miss Schrammsteinsteig!

This is a spectacular place to visit, with strange rock formations, wonderful views of the countryside and river below.

A good network of trails runs on the tops of the rocks so you can enjoy breathtaking scenic views. The setback is a quality of local restaurants as they are still a bit back in time. But on the other hand this brings a trully authentic experience and if you skip the poor service, the food itself is great and... More

An amazing stone arch bridge built in Middle Ages high in the sandstone pinnacles - fantastic views over the Elbe River - we drove up to the top then walked over the bridge and around the other structures then down into the village below where we enjoyed a very pleasant German beer. Well worth it. Our son had to sprint... More

A little effort will be well rewarded with beautiful view of the Eble River and the countryside. You don't need to be a mountain climber to enjoy it here. The walkways are well laid out and there are places to get refreshments.

On sunny day it will be crowded but it is truly amazing place worth staying longer than a day hike. Amazing views, moon alike rock formations and hidden gorges. Will be back

Lots of walks, very well waymarked and excellent walking maps available. Superb views. The rocks stick up out of the forests.

The Elbe sandstone mountains are great to walk over/unterd./through. The odd structures that are left through erosion often make you stop and take pics and wonder how nature made it this way. You will not be disappointed.
