Well this brings back memories of when i was at school. (not in Changsha) The place is definitely worth visiting. Take your time and look in every room and you will be amazed. As I couldn't find the Red Hotel in the Changsha hotel section, I thought I'd review it here. It's associated with the University. Just about everything else was poor. The rooms are shabby. They provide minimal toiletries once during a three day stay. The bed is concrete and the pillow thin. While the room AC unit worked, my glasses fogged... More

Lovely building on the outside but the inside is very neglected. It's such a shame it could be made much more of a tourist site with the Chairman Mao connection, but there is no pictures or tourist notices or any attempt to make it worth a visit. It is free though if you want to take a look.

The west campus is built with majestic gray stone in a grand style befitting Mao's memory. The entry gate is magnificent. The library is very nice. A lovely cool walk in an old grove may still be there although there were plans to use it for other things. Go across the road to the Changsha Finance school for a food... More
