Waiting for the ferry, staff opened a few minutes early to accommodate visitors. Friendly, communicative and well versed in the history and growth of the island. History of the park service & ponys (ADOPT A PONY....PLEASE, they deserve it!!!) What to do on the island on next visit. Great representatives of NPS, well presented.

The park & recreation employees here are so nice. They can answer any question you may have about the Island. Plus, they offer little excursions that can help you learn what to do on this Island. Their soveniors are really great and they have talks out under the oaks

My husband and I love Ocracoke! We visit as often as we can and always come away from our visit experiencing something very special about this Island. Today my sister-in-law and I bought a fig cake from the 2013 and 2014 Winner - Della Gaskins. The cake is absolutely fantastic!!! Not only that, she has written a book "A BLESSED... More

Good information and history of the area including a settlement on the next island. Worth a visit! Handy to the harbor and not far from the lighthouse and ferry to the next island.

Located across the street from the Ferry terminal. Visit here to learn about the island, buy souvenirs, support the National Park Service and start your visit to Ocracoke Island. Friendly and helpful staff.

This is not only the visitors center, but basically the lighthouse shop. The park rangers on duty are very helpful and informative and will answer anything you ask. The shop is great and has some really nice things, especially if you're looking for lighthouse related items. If you have kids with you, this is where you find all the fun... More

The folks here are friendly and informative. Park Service personnel even present "touch & learn" type sessions (on turtles, crabs, etc). There are maps, books, T-Shirts, jewelery items, and even framed (and unframed) art posters available for keep-sakes. Well worth the visit.

Our short visit to the welcome center gives you quite a history of Ocracoke and Blackbeard. It's a must to check out and it doesn't take long to get a brief history of the Island.

I wish I could remember the name of the girl that gave us the history lesson on turtles. She was so sharp witted, knowledgeable, and professional. She made the lesson so interesting and fun for all ages. What a wonderful service and experience for families. Wish we would have attended some of other programs while we were on the island....
