My son did the jr. ranger program and I highly recommend it! Kids get a book about nat'l seashore nature, attend 2 ranger programs and they receive a jr. ranger badge and a beautiful patch that is going in his scrapbook! The rangers are knowledgable, interesting and welcoming. The facility is clean, has plenty of parking and helpful about all...

Good tips, good souvenirs, maps, all of that. Nice picnic areas on the side. Ferries schedules, a must have in this island.

Absolutely, start here. Pick up the visitor map of the local attractions, and chat with someone who knows the island. They always have the best advice.

We visited Ocracoke Island and seen several attractions there. You have to take the toll-free ferry to get there which takes about 40 minutes. It's a neat thing to do if you've never rode a ferry. Ocracoke Island is only 14 miles long, so it's pretty crowded when you get in town. The Ocracoke Lighthouse is nice to see but...
