We tried to visit the lighthouse, but only made it to the outside. They are only open on Wednesday's and Saturdays.

It's a heck of a climb on the stairs, but worth the view. Wonderful distances can bee seen from atop the lighthouse, and it's only open a couple days a week so be sure to make a reservation! Get a t-shirt to document your climb to the top!

It's a pretty stop and cute tour. Lasts about 15 minutes inclusive of walking around and taking pictures. If you are into lighthouses its picturesque. The groundskeepers and volunteers are delightful and historic gems. The site is well preserved and the volunteers are very engaging and invested in the well-being of the lighthouse. The beach access view was even more... More

The free tour is interesting, and they keep the grounds well landscaped. You get to climb up one level to hear the history by a very knowledgeable Guide. Of course, it's a little dirty so, do not wear nice clothes or dresses. There may be more to it, but we had enough after the tour. Souvenirs and T-shirts are available... More

The lighthouse tour was about a 10-15 minute lesson from a volunteer historian on the first floor of the lighthouse. He was quite knowledgeable and very passionate for this landmark and the area. I thought the stop was worth it plus the walk across the road on the beach was quite enjoyable. The group of volunteers take very good care... More

Close to the road and easy to just do a drive by. I was able to take a fabulous photo of the sunset with the lighthouse without getting out of the vehicle. Enjoyed seeing this lighthouse that is still being used today. If you like lighthouses, don't miss this one.

Loved going to the beach and not having to fight for a spot. Plenty of room at Oak Island, and not a lot of people.

This was a little disappointing. We read that reservations to tour were required 2 weeks in advance which seems a bit ridiculous considering a tourist destination but we're happy to go tour the first level that was stated to be open. No one was around and no information available at lighthouse. Still interesting to see and nice beach walk across... More
