John Gaston White did a great job bringing colonial New Bern to life. We were with a group from all over the state and everyone was so amazed and interested It was a great representation of New Bern! Very informative and a great prelude to the Palace.

Definitely a good use of your time and money as you are sightseeing in New Bern. The tour guide was very knowledgable and friendly and shared a variety of facts from all different time periods. The trolley was fun, clean, and comfy. We would have never known as much about New Bern without the trip and we appreciated the town... More

We went on this 90 minute trolley ride and loved it! We got a great overview of the city and a TON of history. The guide was very thorough and interesting! This is a wonderful introduction to the city!

The 90-minute tour shows off the history of New Bern with three stops, one at the cemetery, one at Christ Church, and one at the academy. The final stop was really just a chance to stretch your legs as there was nothing much to see in the grass lot where we stood. We toured with a local who was able... More

It amazed us when we moved here the history that is within this little town. If you are visiting take a trolley tour from Tryron Palace to see and hear about the town. Grab a map and find the bears! I still chuckle when I am asked what they mean because I once did the same thing although we didn't... More

Beware! They need at least 6 paying customers to conduct tour. Although we called ahead this was not mentioned and we detoured here for the purpose of this tour. Initially it seem there would not be 6 so we offered to pay for the 2 extra tickets needed. Both the driver (Joe Hudson) and the guide (John Muth) were agreeable... More

The tour was an awesome look into the past. So much colonial history in this quaint town!!! Note: we were there in mid-March when tours don't operate on Tue or Wed. I called ahead ( on a Monday) to find out that tours only run at 2:00. What they didn't tell me was that they will not run unless there... More

The tour picked us up at the Doubletree. very convenient. The driver and tour guide were both top notch! This was one thing I really wanted to do while here. Learned lots about New Bern history, including why it's called the "city on wheels".... history of moving houses between lots for sometimes egotistical reasons. Fascinating history... Revolutionary War, Civil War,... More

We recently vacationed near Top Sail Beach, N.C. on the Atlantic Ocean and took a day trip to Historic New Bern, N.C. We visited the Visitor's Center first and got tickets ($16.00/adult) to tour the Palace and several other historical homes. The tour was excellent with a great Docent who could answer every question we had. Each individual historical home... More

In July, with temps at 100^, it was TOO HOT for this tour. The trolley has no A/C and does not go fast enough to create a breeze. But our guide made it very interesting and I would recommend it during decent weather. Staff was helpful and displayed concern about our group suffering in the heat.
