Who knew how fun hang gliding could be but how challenging, too. Our group consisted of 3 adults and 4 children, ranging in age from 8 to 12. While there was a wait between tries, we all had fun, watching and cheering on each other. We are even looking into doing it again.

Your terrain can not be completely flat if you hope to get off the ground, and a steady breeze will also help immensely. Taken to extreme these pointers may seem to indicate that a cliff-face may be ideal, but this is only for experienced gliders. Those with less time in the harness may find the programs offered by Kitty Hawk... More

....But we still had a great experience. I appreciated that the instructors let us choose whether to continue on with 20+ mph wind gusts or to reschedule for later in the week. Sadly on our reschedule, the wind was also not cooperating, so we ended up getting a partial refund. I would highly recommend, though, to just about everyone! It... More

My nine-year-old daughter is a bit of an adventure seeker. She loves heights and new experiences, and so I promised her a try at hang gliding while in OBX. Since she weighs under seventy-five pounds, we were pleased to find that Kitty Hawk Kites offers an experience specifically for younger children. (Note: Parents are required to stay with children at... More

My 17 year-old son and 12 year-old niece took a spin at guided gliding and had an excellent time. It was a really windy day which interfered with what they were able to do--the school gave them the option of getting their money back after the first flight/returning another day--but time is always of the essence on vacation so they... I had an absolute blast!! I choose the "Rollercoaster" ride versus a calm, quiet flight and it was a blast!! I loved getting to take the controls and my instructor made me feel so at ease! Like someone else said, the flight once your release from the plane is less than 10 minutes. Next time I will certaily pay the... More

The 3 hour class is a really great experience. Our 3 boys - ages 19, 17, 14 - signed up and were all able to do it with ease. After a lesson and video, they each got 5 runs down the hill, each lasting around 10-15 seconds each. The instructors are really involved. The kids got certificates at the end.... More

These guys are vets and could do this in their sleep. Very safe and efficient. Plane tows you up and then you float back down. They even let you steer while you're up in the air. Only 15 minutes, but very fun.

My husband and I did this with our daughter for her 21st birthday. We each did the tandem flight from 2000 feet. Wow! It was so much fun :) We would highly recommend this school as they were professional and efficient and wonderful to deal with. The pilots were great "guides" and made sure we got the most out of... We signed our kids up (ages 7 and 11) for the kids hang gliding class. The people at Kitty Hawk Kites were all so nice and enthusiastic. The class was conducted with professionalism, safety, and fun in mind. There was plenty of room for parents to spectate and take pictures too! Our instructors were Alex and Hunter and the kids...
