My family and I have always visited Nags Head and have seen hang gliding on Jockey's Ridge but have never done it. I decided to try something new and I'm so glad I did! My instructors were SO incredibly helpful. If you can't do it right the first time or even the third or fourth time, you have teachers that... More

We have been doing the hang gliding at Jockey's Ridge since my nephew was 4, and this was his 5th year. We always go to the ground school, prior to making the trek to the dune, so that the kids get a refresher course. When we went on Tuesday, each person took one flight, but it was too windy. They... Great experience! Fun, exiciting, informative, challenging, & very memorable. As part of my husband's birthday adventure, we went hang-gliding at Jockey's Ridge - tallest sand dunes on the Atlantic coast. John & Sterling were our K.H.K. hang-gliding instructors. They were both very nice, patient, and provided helpful instruction throughout the lesson. Thanks K.H.K for an thrilling adventure!

We had a fantastic, uplifting hang gliding experience with Kitty Hawk Kites during two of our vacation days on the Outer Banks – we stayed in Corolla for a week with our extended family in celebration of our parents’ 50th wedding anniversary. On our first hang gliding day, we took lessons on the dunes of Jockey’s Ridge State Park in... More

Who knew how fun hang gliding could be but how challenging, too. Our group consisted of 3 adults and 4 children, ranging in age from 8 to 12. While there was a wait between tries, we all had fun, watching and cheering on each other. We are even looking into doing it again.

Your terrain can not be completely flat if you hope to get off the ground, and a steady breeze will also help immensely. Taken to extreme these pointers may seem to indicate that a cliff-face may be ideal, but this is only for experienced gliders. Those with less time in the harness may find the programs offered by Kitty Hawk... More

....But we still had a great experience. I appreciated that the instructors let us choose whether to continue on with 20+ mph wind gusts or to reschedule for later in the week. Sadly on our reschedule, the wind was also not cooperating, so we ended up getting a partial refund. I would highly recommend, though, to just about everyone! It... More

My nine-year-old daughter is a bit of an adventure seeker. She loves heights and new experiences, and so I promised her a try at hang gliding while in OBX. Since she weighs under seventy-five pounds, we were pleased to find that Kitty Hawk Kites offers an experience specifically for younger children. (Note: Parents are required to stay with children at... More

My 17 year-old son and 12 year-old niece took a spin at guided gliding and had an excellent time. It was a really windy day which interfered with what they were able to do--the school gave them the option of getting their money back after the first flight/returning another day--but time is always of the essence on vacation so they...
