These guys are vets and could do this in their sleep. Very safe and efficient. Plane tows you up and then you float back down. They even let you steer while you're up in the air. Only 15 minutes, but very fun.

My husband and I did this with our daughter for her 21st birthday. We each did the tandem flight from 2000 feet. Wow! It was so much fun :) We would highly recommend this school as they were professional and efficient and wonderful to deal with. The pilots were great "guides" and made sure we got the most out of... We signed our kids up (ages 7 and 11) for the kids hang gliding class. The people at Kitty Hawk Kites were all so nice and enthusiastic. The class was conducted with professionalism, safety, and fun in mind. There was plenty of room for parents to spectate and take pictures too! Our instructors were Alex and Hunter and the kids... We were able to walk right in and get our two girls (ages 7 and 9) in the last group of the evening. The staff was awesome with them. Patient and kind and full of energy (which is shocking considering they run those dunes probably hundreds of times in a day and should have been worn out by the time... More

I went on the 2000 feet tandem hang gliding ride. Mike was my pilot and he was truly wonderful. He was knowledgeable and friendly. Flying with him was easy and I felt at ease during the entire trip. The other pilots and staff were all friendly, experienced and helpful. I loved my trip and I will definitely be back.

This was my first trip to the OBX and I wanted to try various outdoor adventures. I'm a little scared of heights so the dune hang gliding was perfect! The sand softened your fall and the instructors were very encouraging/patient. I'd definitely return and maybe work my way up to the higher elevations!!.

We signed up for the beginner lessons and had a wonderful time. The "ground school" training was pretty minimal, but was effective in providing needed basic information. It was a good walk to the actual launch site but not bad. It's a beautiful spot and the sand is perfect. I wore sandals that strapped on and we're good for running... More

Bruce and the guys at Kitty Hawk Kites at Jockeys Ridge are wonderful. This is the third time we have brought a group to fly the 1902 Wright Brothers' glider replica. They made each experience fun and educational for all involved. They are always very accommodating to our group's requests.

Surprised my husband with a 2000 ft tandem handgliding experience for his 57 birthday. He loved everything about it. He wants to go back and do the mile high next time.

What an exhilarating experience to go tandem up to 2,000 feet with an experienced hang gliding instructor. I felt completely comfortable even though this was my first time hang gliding. Everyone associated with this operation was friendly and completely focused on your safety. Remember to take sun glasses to avoid possible bug problems aloft. Mike, the instructor, made sure that...
