Friends and family were skeptical that a 67 yr old would actually go hang gliding for the first time. But I did and it was wonderful. The experience was awesome and the instructors were beyond great. They were so patient and helpful. I'm looking forward to my next flight. Try it - you'll like it!

Thank you Kites for the great experience on a not so nice day. You made our visit to the Outbound Conference even better by treating our rainy day just like a sunny day. I can now cross this off my bucket list and will recommend your instructors to friends visiting the area. Thank again.

We went over Columbus Day Weekend. You pay $109 (check for coupons in the Sunny Day guide) and get about an hour lesson/video instruction inside called "ground school" and then off to the dunes. All told you spend about 3+ hours during this activity... plan accoridngly. After ground school you trek (and it IS a trek) up the dunes to... More

I have looked forward to hang gliding on the dunes for years. Perhaps my expectations were too high, having observed hang gliders jump off mountains and soar for hours on thermals to heights of a couple thousand feet AGL. The flights on these kits lasted at most 10 seconds, with elevations no more than 10-15 feet in the air. The... More

I can't even describe the feeling of awesomeness of getting up in the air and flying. It was just incredible. The staff was very professional and Andy (tandem partner) was just a riot. He talked to me the whole time up there and pointed out where we were and the points of interest in the area as we were up... More

Best part of our vacation. Went to Kitty Hawk Kites by Jockey's Ridge and booked this. Took about 45 minutes to get there and then we see this ultralight, barely there plane that tows you and your guide up to 2000 feet and releases you for the perfect glide of your life. You are flying!!! It is very easy, your... More

I have been thinking about this for awhile but was kind of afraid. THE staff at the main store were very helpful with my questions and convinced me I could do this. At the school they made me feel very relaxed. Wille was my instructor and was AWESOME. I never thought I could do this I Did it and Loved... More

Josh was our instructor and he was fabulous! This class is great for all ages and I look forward to doing the class again with my nephews! You should plan 4 hours for the class. It was a great experience in a beautiful setting!

You really have to do this! I think this is the ideal activity to do in Kitty Hawk... after all this is the home of the First Flight! I was thrilled to have the kids experience this and it was an outstanding activity for our young family. I could not have been happier with our experience... even though we had... More
