Great walking on the sand dunes

Interesting to learn about the movement of the sand dunes and its impact of Nags Head. Easy walk to the top of the sand dune to see hang gliding.

Many people enjoying hang gliding and flying kites - Especially nice to see families together enjoying the kite flying - Boardwalk out to a nice view in the back of the park and a nice visitor and nature center (small, but informative). Neat small wind turbine - very interesting to see, hear it, and read about it.

I liked this location a lot. It was fun just walking around and climbing up the sand dunes. You could see so much and so far from up so high. I read it was the best spot to watch a sunset. I climbed to the top but got there about 40 minutes before sunset. It was way too cold to... More

Awesome experience especially for young children! Great place for flying kites and exploring! We went in early Spring so the temperatures were perfect for climbing the dunes.

Winds were too strong to hang glide...will have to return to Jockey's Ridge and have my lesson with kitty hawk kites hang gliding. I look forward to having fun on the sand dunes again

We hiked up and down the dunes and had a great time. You can see the sound and ocean from the top. Great place for flying a kite.

Unfortunately it was rainy when we visited here, so out visit got cut short. If it were a nice day, we'd have spent some more time and explored this natural wonder. It's just down the road from the Wright Brothers National Monument in Kitty Hawk. There's no entrance fee. You just have some good shoes to walk on sand especially... More

We went on an overcast and breezy day. We flew a kite at the top of the dunes. Its a great time. Kids had a blast rolling down the sandy hills.

My freinds and I went sand surfing here. It was soooo fun!!! We brought boogie boards and walked to the top of the biggest dune and 'surfed down' (very hard walk). Great for pictures too.
