Our 6 year old daughter really enjoyed gem mining at the salty dog! She was so excited to see what kind of rocks and treasures emerged from the dirt, and she hasn't stopped playing with them all since she got them. Salty dog offers different types of bags for different kinds of collectors, we did the girls gem and treasure... More

I'd read good reviews, but was not impressed. Would not recommend or return. Prices for "gem mining" were high for time and "gems" gained.

Thank you for sharing your opinion about our fun park and gem mine. We try to be VERY explicit in our advertising and our comments before anyone purchases our gem bags that we make up the gem bags. It is the experience of the panning and getting gems from all over the world that other guests have enjoyed. We tell... More

We took our 4 young (5-9yrs old) grandchildren here and they had a blast!! They had never done anything like this before and what fun!!! Not only was it a learning experience with a informative chart given to each of them to identify their new found treasures but the neat keepsakes were excitedly shown to their parents when they got... Thank you so much for the great review. We really appreciate knowing about our guests' experience, and, if we made it fun for the kids, we feel like we did our job! We drove about an hour from our cabin to get here and found this hidden gem to be much better than we hoped. The two boys loved it and would have stayed all day if we let them. The lady who runs the place is so patient and kind. She spent a lot of time teaching the kids about gold... More

It was such a great way to spend part of our morning and worth the money. I found a few arrowheads and other gems that I will make souvenirs from and my friend was quite happy with the "jewels" she found. Our "guide" was wonderful and very knowledgeable. I believe she said she was a science teacher in the area.... More

Our 2 twelve year old grandsons loved the paintball target shooting and gem mining. They have a wonderful little gift shop with a large variety of items for adults and children with very reasonable prices. The owners are very friendly and genuinely want the children to have a memorable visit.

We were looking for something different to do over Labor Day weekend and found the gem mines on Tripadvisor. We were at a cabin in Ellijay and it was a nice day drive. The one problem we had was that within 4 miles of the location, our GPS lost connection (AT&T). We ended up making a wrong turn and then... More

Panned for gold and found a large picker and several nice flakes. Had a great time watching my great niece find gem stones, mini golf, paint ball shooting and a nice hay ride minus the hay. The prices were very reasonable. I think my nugget is worth what we spent. Can't wait to go again!
