I would rare it higher but $35 for a 30 minute tour is a little steep. The guide was personable and we got to see all of the handful of sights in town. Overall, worth the expense and a good way to get an orientation.

Since I am a big Andy Griffith fan, we stopped in Mt Airy on our way to another destination. We arrived later in the day so wasn't able to see a lot. One place we wanted to see was Wally's Gas Station. We got there at 4 PM which is when it was suppose to close, but the lady in... More

Wally's service is a Mayberry's station, complete with Andy's squad car ( take a tour in it!) and gift shop with very unusual things. Staff very helpful to give historical advice. One if the best places in town. Andy's Sherrie office and jail next door in the Mayberry Courthouse

We were in Mt. Airy aka Mayberry as a half-way meeting place to catch up with old friends. The visitor center made the very helpful suggestion that we take the tour from Wally's Service Station. It was a kick. You not only see all the Andy Griffith related sights but the granite quarry is a wonder! And the story of... More

If you've got an hour and you're a fan of Andy you can't go wrong with this tour. The driver was engaging and clearly demonstrated his pride of Mount Airy. The granite quarry was more interesting than I thought it would be. We also got to take some fun pictures in the Mayberry Courthouse. Lots of fun for the us.

We started our visit to Mt Airy by taking a tour in the Squad Car. "Sheriff" Roger was our guide and he did an excellent job with his animated voice to show us the sites of Mt. Airy. He included historical, environmental and Mayberry sites. It was well worth our money and a perfect way to help us plan out... More

This was an actual "service station" which was established about 1937 according to the lady working inside the day we went. She also said "Andy frequently visited this gas station while he was living in Mr. Airy" Well they have a great supply of things you can buy to remember The Andy Griifith Show as well as refreshments including bottled... Wally's is a good place to begin your tour of Mount Airy. Taking a Squad Car Tour will show you around the town and get you acquainted with the sights and layout of the town. This was our first trip to Mount Airy, so we were unfamiliar with the way the town was set up and where all the attractions... More

Love going in there and looking at the photos. Getting some candy and sodas and just hanging out reading and looking at all the neat things.

The squad tour was very interesting and informative. We had a great tour guide and he gave us a lot of information we would not have known had we toured Mt. airy on our own. It was well worth the $35 for my husband and I. Make sure you tour the filling station museum also. It had the jail set... More
