Description: Old North State Winery started as a cooperative in 2002 and has since...
Old North State Winery started as a cooperative in 2002 and has since evolved into a winery owned by two families with one vision. Our vineyards were established on farms that have been in our families for generations. We hope you enjoy the culmination of our dreams, our devotion to our farmland, and our passion for our wines produced at Old North State Winery. Most of our wines start out as luscious wine grapes grown on Yadkin Valley North Carolina family farms. We are the Old North State Winery, Inc. located in Mount Airy, in the headwaters of the Yadkin Valley AVA. Wine, beer and fine foods are our passion and our legacy.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this winery, sampling several ONS and Fish Hippie wines. Zack was our tasting steward, and what one hell of a job he did explaining the plusses and drawbacks of each sample. He knows his stuff, and everybody there was friendly and attentive. The food was good, especially the share menu after 4. Roomy,... More

We stopped in Mt. Airy on the way to the beach and decided to start our vacation for real with dinner and a tasting at Old North State. We absolutely loved this place -- the vibe, the wine and the food. The bartender was slammed, so it was hard to get his attention, but once we did he was more... More

We had dinner here one night last week. It was quite nice. I had a nice glass of wine and a salad with salmon on top. It was good. My only request would be that they offer table service. I don't like having to stand in line at a nicer restaurant to order my food.

Wine; it lacked luster, body, and flavor. Service (sans Zack); it lacked personality, attentiveness, and the assiduous attention to the customer base. Exception; Zack, a former resident of the northeast 'states, salvaged our experience. His humor, knowledge of the 'grape', and overall appreciation for our ingenious needs saved the proverbial day. We cannot fathom the direction Old North... would take... More

Had in the area been visiting vineyards and wineries, stopped for a visit at Old North State and made new friends. This turn of the century hardware store has great character. I wish we had not already had lunch, the menu looked GREAT. We did share a slice of cheesecake, it was wonderful. Zack & Jenna were great they went... More

Ask for Zack to do your wine tasting. He knows his wine, isn't pushy but makes you want to hang around. He is considerate of his visitors and even made a special effort to provide a tasting to a handicapped visitor who could not get to the serving bar. What a guy! Wine is remarkably inexpensive and very good. A... More

We visited here on our first day of arriving, after wine tastings at 2 vineyards. Great old building with a beautiful bar. We sat at the bar and each had a wine flight of 3 Fish Hippie reds, and decided to order an early dinner of pasta and a chicken quesadilla. We really enjoyed talking to Savannah, as she was... More

I took my mom here when she came to visit me in Winson. I had been before and thought it was great. Amanda was our bartender for our tasting today and was EVEN BETTER than the first time I was there. Attentive and personable, which pairs well with great wine. You also can't go wrong with the shrimp nachos. If... More

We had a group in visiting from Japan, took them to lunch here (solid deli type food offerings), ended up staying for wine sampling for "dessert". The staff could not have been more accommodating, they made this stop on the trip extra memorable for our guests. Open spacious seating plan with the right blend of music truly made this a... More

Great experience! Our favorite winery in the yadkin valley. Zack served us well and was very knowledgeable about the products. We'll be back regularly!!
