We ride horses everywhere we travel. This was definitely the worst experience we have had. We went on the three hour trail ride which was overbooked. The guide was cranky and rude. The mine was awful and tapped out as another guest noted. The guides used it for their smoke break which I thought was totally inappropriate with children all... More

My family and I booked a four hour ride, to include an hour for digging garnets at the old mine. We brought our own sandwiches and they provided saddle bags for them. We couldn't have asked for a nicer day. Great guide with excellent knowledge of the mountains. He helped us find garnets (you can go quite deep into the... More

We did an hour long trail ride with our daughters 7 and 9...it was perfect for us! Just long enough...great views of the hills, valleys and sheep! Norman and Ronnie, our guides, were great! Would recommend...call ahead during peak times! More

When my husband and I arrived at Sandy Bottom, we were excited to have a 3 hour adventure to the garnet mine and ride for two hours. Upon our arrival, we were rushed outside and shown to our horses. No one ever asked our names, nor introduced us to our guide. The guide asked me if I wanted to take... More

We picked this attraction as part of our Asheville trip. The landscape was beautiful however we were so sad to see the way owners treat these horses. They treat them like roller coaster rides: no rest in between rides and no water breaks. Poorly run facility... More

Very fun and pleasant experience. Guides were great. Horses were easy to ride. The gem mine was a lot more fun then I expected. Highly recommend. More

The staff worked with us as we were late coming from out of town. Did feel a little rushed getting started but was trying to beat the rain. No intro or review of rules, etc. Once on the trail the guide was very talkative and attentive to our group. The scenery is wonderful and trails are well kept. Didn't see... More

I’ll definitely return to Sandy Bottom. I was expecting some decent horses and a nice view. But the staff at Sandy Bottom just blew my mind. Incredibly professional people, they made us feel so confortable that I felt like I knew them for years and it wasn’t my first time horseback riding. One of our guide’s name was Norman. I’m... More

My husband and I showed up at 9:15 on a Monday morning with no reservations and they took us out on a 2 hour trail ride, just us and the guide. I forgot a jacket and it was chilly, the guide lent me a flannel jacket to wear. He spoke to us about the ranch (8400 acres) about the horses... More

I was thrown off my horse within going .2 tenths of a mile on her. I did nothing to provoke being thrown off the horse. I did not kick her, yell at her, etc. None of the staff knew the name of the horses that me and my husband were riding. I like to know the name of the horse... More
