Highly recommend the full day trip! Got started promptly at 9am, we were done at 3pm. Had 6 in our group and switched off 2 into a "duckie" kayak. Would recommend taking a few duckies out. Be careful over the class 4 rapids though! Ended up with a very memorable experience! The river is beautiful and there is a good... More

Everyone at Blue Heron was extremely sweet and attentive. They answer any questions and make sure you have a nice/safe experience on the rapids. They give you a few opportunities to get out of the boat; once to jump off a 12 ft cliff and a second time to swim near rapids. Awesome, Awesome, Awesome experience. And being a first... More

Well thanks for coming down the river with us. We appreciate your business and the time you took to write a review. We love the French Broad for it's great combination of rapids, scenery and history. Come back for the full day trip! It's a great way to spend a day on the river floating through the mountains. Thanks again.... More

Blue Heron is terrific! Four of us went, our experienced paddler in a ducky and the rest of us with guide Kim. She gave all of us confidence to the point where we would have taken another trip immediately! The water was perfect, not cold, and the white water was exciting. Kim's instructions and sense of humor made it a... More

The full day trip is our favorite trip. The extra time on the water and in the mountains is what makes it special for us. Plus the class 4 toward the end of the run! It's called Frank Bell's Rapid and it's great fun. By the time we get there folks have had plenty of time and experience with the... More

Yes! We have a great fun job and meet the nicest people daily. Ducks (inflatable kayaks) are great fun in the warm summer months if the water levels are right. Guided rafts are always available as another option. Thanks for rafting with us! More

My husband and I went on a whitewater rafting tour with Jack as our guide. The weather was gorgeous, no one fell out, and we had a fantastic time. There's a rock outcropping in a calm place that you can jump off of and places to swim. The rapids were class 1-3.

Can't say enough about how much the whitewater rafting was enjoyed by my family. My kids range from 19 to 9 years old, and every one of them thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was the first time we ever rafted. The staff was friendly and helpful. The facility was surprisingly neat and clean. The views during the trip were beautiful.... More

Fun is the foundation of our trips, but we try to add layers of information about both the natural history, and human history of the area. Glad you had a good time and thanks for writing a review. More

The BF and I were looking to book our first rafting trip on our trip to Asheville and I randomly chose this place. Blue Heron is located very close to the other rafting companies in Marshall. We stayed in Weaverville, so it only took us about 25 minutes to get there. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Sandy checked... More

Hi and thanks for taking the time to write such a thorough review. We certainly do appreciate it. And, of course, thanks for rafting with us. Along with the scenic beauty and the fun rapids, it's the fascinating history of this area that makes the French Broad River our home river. Thanks again and hope to see you again soon. More

After deciding to do some white-water rafting in the Asheville area, we decided to go with Blue Heron as we felt they received consistently good reviews and were also "specialists" (ie. didn't offer other activites like zip-lining, like some other companies do) - and I think we made a really good choice. 4 of us went on the full day... It was totally awesome. Wags was and awesome guide, shared lots of history and nature with the group. I was impressed with the fact that they are not trying to get rich off of you. The gift shop items were affordable not to mention that the photos were well worth the price without high pressure or gouging. Wags has given... More
