Our guide Doug was really helpful in getting our raft as well as the individual "duckies" through the rapids .... And he had some great stories about the history of the river and the area. The rapids were really easy, so this would be great to take younger kids. My 18 year old had a duckie and liked it a... More

Glad you enjoyed your trip, and the duckies are a great option at certain water levels for folks who want a little more whitewater action. Since the French Broad is a free flowing river you just never really know when the water is going to be high or low. Though it is true that the river typically runs higher in... More

My two friends and I went rafting as part of a girls trip. I had been before but my other two friends were new to the experience. Our guide Kim was amazing! She helped us traverse through the rapids while also helping my friend who was a bit nervous feel at ease. I would definitely raft with this company every... More

Yes Kim is amazing. She tells us so every day. Actually she usually uses the word "awesome". Glad you and your friend had a good time, Kim really does do an awesome job. And since we get to go rafting with a lot of novice rafters, it is important to us that they feel comfortable and assured. It is very... More

We highly recommend Blue Heron Whitewater. My husband, teenage son, and I did the half-day trip with lunch. It was such a great time. Matt was our guide, and he did a great job of steering us and sharing river history with us. The guides are all relaxed but professional. If you've never been rafting before, don't worry. You'll get... More

Thanks for your high recommendation. We really appreciate it. We also appreciate you choosing us as your rafting outfitter. Many folks who come rafting with us are first time rafters and we want to make sure everyone is comfortable and well informed about what the day is going to entail. I highly recommend white water rafting here. It was me and my boyfriends first time rafting so we were a little nervous but our guide Erik put us at ease and was INCREDIBLY fun and really knew the river. We felt completely safe with him and really enjoyed our experience. All of the guides were extremely fun and one in... More

We had Great time. Our kids are 11 and 12. There was a 10 year old and a boy even younger in the group. The instructor laura was great. Some kids were nervous about the dangers and she worked with each of them individually to allay their fears. The guides were great, knowledgeable about the history and geography, locale, and... More

We're glad you had a great time. We always do too. The white water stretch of the French Broad is great for kids as young as 8 (we do a calm water section that is good for folks as young as four also). It's also a good trip for first time rafters. The water is warm and the rapids are... More

This was the second time our family went white water rafting. Last year on the New River, this year with Blue Heron on the French Broad. Little did I know, until the trip, that both were the 2nd and 3rd oldest rivers. How cool! We had a great guide....I think it was Max (sorry it's been a couple weeks). He... More

The next time you go rafting you'll have to go down the Nile so you can say you've rafted on the top three oldest rivers in the world. We appreciate you going down the river with us and really appreciate your business. Max does a great job and glad to hear you had a good trip with him. Glad to... More

We used this group for our rafting trip and had the best time! Guides were so much fun and made you feel really comfortable and enjoy the trip. As we were paddling down the river "Wags" pointed out different points of interest and asked questions to get to know each of us. At the end they had someone taking pictures... More

On the recommendation of a friend, my son and I took the half day trip which began in the morning and included lunch. We could not have been more satisfied. Super safe outfit. They made a video that was very helpful. They don't nickel and dime you at all. They have free sunscreen you can wear. They don't upsell on necessary items like water shoes ($10) waters and snacks. They put out free water shoes that people have left behind, we were able to find shoes for my husband and... More
