This is my third time going to cat and I am also impressed by the operation. The get to the backside of the mountain and almost magically there are ski runs. There are a couple of pitfalls. The side trails are fast and narrow. I won't go down them until I perfect my turns.if they are making snow please were... More

Cataloochee is great - go early as it's the best time to avoid lines and waits. Snow is also best early on. I had never been skiing on man-made snow before and I was pleasantly surprised, it was not icy at all, and we even had a little powder! I will say the temp & conditions were PERFECT which was... We had never skied before and were a bit nervous after seeing the mountain. We purchased lessons and Jessica (unsure of last name, she's from Brazil) was the best! She made it easy and took extra time when we needed it. Everyone should try this place!

I have been to other ski stations. I liked this one, the mountain has good height and the slopes are nice. However, I think few slopes are not that safe. Few slopes are to narrow and I saw few I saw few people almost falling into the trees. Also, I saw few people being rescued from the mountain. Even with... More

Went on the day after MLK and the place was pretty slow, which was great for us. They have 3 real lifts (2 doubles and 1 quad). The runs are well groomed and were fun to ride down. Much better than Sugar, Beech or Ober Mountains. Equipment all looked pretty new except the ski poles. I would think a 9-4:30... More

We made an unexpected stop at Cataloochee Ski resort driving home from Tennessee. First I would like to say the road leading up to the ski resort is steep! I didn't think my Nissan Murano was going to make it up but if those huge passenger buses could make it then I knew I could make it up the mountain,... More

For beginner skiers/snowboarders age 6-10, the half day package is great introduction. The age goes up to 12, and if you have a moody tween then being grouped with the "little kids" may cause a minor standoff at drop off. The instructors are positive and helpful; trained to teach kids which was well received from what I could tell, and... More

We came back to Cataloochee this year after a half day of skiing and my son's first ski lesson in December 2013. We skied for 2 8 hour days this year. I am not an expert, only 8 days of skiing in 34 years, but this ski resort was a lot of fun for my sun and I. The weather... More

Went on New Years day and found some good imfo. First, skiing was very good early but got a bit mushy and thick as day went along. Yes...they had a snow cannon shooting right at the lift riders just before you got off it on the easy green hill. Other lifts and skiing was great in a.m. Tips: on the... More
