I was traveling alone with my two boys. I wanted them to learn how to ski and I wanted to learn how to snowboard. We live in Georgia. We drove 3 hours to get to Fox Hunt (GREAT stay). We planned to ski/snowboard at Sapphire Valley (on the same property as Fox Hunt) but it was not opened yet for... More

Cataloochee Ski Area is a GREAT place for some skiing. The runs are groomed and the lines are short, just as long as don't go between Christmas and New Years. It's an AWESOME little ski area!!!

Good place to ski if you live in southeast with a limited budget that doesn't allow you to fly to Colorado or Utah. We went on the Thanksging day-there was plenty of snow and a small crowd. Everything was very pleasant. The food court was very pricy though.

Review not about ski resort as much as the great omelette I ate for breakfast. I wanted to beat the crowds in the dining area so I dropped in about 1045. The food preparers were very nice and cooked me a western omelette. Not on their regular menu. It was the best one I have ever eaten. Such nice people... More

Well, no, this is not Colorado but it was still fun and they have really friendly instructors. My husband and I did what they call "slide in 5" which is a promotion including rentals, lifts and lessons and when you complete 5 lessons you receive a free pair of skis. We went when we thought it would be less crowded... More

Went up last week and enjoyed the day watching the mostly college age kids, but also families and some older folks enjoying a day on the slopes. No, it isn't Vail, Aspen, Breckenridge, but it still an asset to this part of North Carolina and provides people the chance to learn to ski, to hone their skills. A great way... More

When winter time comes the best thing to avoid cabin fever is to get out in it! What better way to do that than go learn how to ski or snow board! Cataloochee Ski Area provides the fun learning of both and the best thing of all, it is very affordable compared to other activities.

We arrived a weekend after one of their earliest openings yet. Only two runs were open, but discounted lift tickets were provided and the lodge has reasonably priced food and drinks. A great trip for those not looking to travel too far.

I had never been skiing before, and I wanted to try something not to far from home. I live in GA, so it is just a few hours drive. I have been told by many seasoned skiers that this is nothing compared to "out west", and that may be true. However, if you just want to have fun, learn to... More

I only have one question would it be possible to blow the snow on the mountain at night when the slopes are not open.I brought three boys out to snowboard and after one run they had enough.I'm sorry to have to say but if I'm going to bring people out in the future I'm going to have to make sure...
