Don't visit here during the winter weekend or you will be disappointed with the skiing. It's SO CROWDED on weekends. The slopes are ok for the east coast but if you can, drive another hour north to Wolf Ridge to ski. More runs and nicer slopes. I will say the staff at CAT are very sweet but we won't ski... More

I went as a newbie to skiing and after my 2.5 hours lesson I was comfortable enough to ski on my own. Food was good and they had vegan options. Slopes for all stages of skiiers. A great place to ski close to home for me.

well groomed slopes, friendly staff, affordable and convenient location for skiers from Georgia. Slopes are available from first time skiers to the more advanced.

We love Cataloochee! I ski Sugar and Beech up in NC also, but Cataloochee is a shorter drive and my kids love it. They actually do a better job making snow than either of the mentioned resorts. I could not believe all of the snow--there were NO bare spots! Everyone who works there is very friendly and I appreciated them... More

I'm sure its a great place, but if you go on a holiday weekend, the lines are outrageous and it takes forever to get on a slope. Plus there is really only 1 bunny slope so a LOT of new people to run into. Fun, but I would go back on a weekend that wasn't a holiday. Food in the... More

The Cataloochee Ski area is our annual family ski trip destination. It's a 7 hour drive from our home and has been a perfect resort for our children to learn to ski. The runs are perfect for beginners and intermediate's. The resort is organized in its equipment rental and ticket purchases. The staff is professional and hospitable.

I hesitate to rate Cataloochee higher than average for several reasons. It is a really small ski area. If it is busy, it is miserable, especially for beginners. Snowboards are permitted and this is problematic on a small ski area. There just is not enough room for skiers and boarders to avoid each other. Being located in North Carolina, there... More

Ok so I have to give it five stars because my 16 year old son and his best pal loved it - it's a pretty drive up the mountain where you see no snow anywhere (we went in early Feb) and then you come across the hillside of snow. It's all very organized and you can rent all the gear... More

This is our fourth year going to Cataloochee. We love it. My kids took lessons the first time, the lessons are great for beginners and a really good deal too. There aren't tons of trails and all the trails end in the same area. There is plenty of room to move but people of every skill level converge in the... More

We attended our local Boy Scout troop's annual trip to Cataloochee. It was the first time snow skiing for any of us but we had a blast. It's a fun beginner slope (that's as far as we were confident enough to try) and my boys tell me the intermediate was also a really good run. The folks who work there... More
