We live three hours from Cataloochee and have been quite pleased with this ski resort. Our children have had the time of their lives and find it more and more fun the more we go. The weekends tend to get a little crazy with lots of people, but they manage the lines well and there are many slopes. I tend... More

We went to this resort over Christmas break 2014. When we went, only like 5 slopes were opened and they had fake snow. It was my first time skiing in over 10 years. The prices are cheap, the food was a little on the pricey side. The food area looks kind of like an old skating rink/bowling alley. It is... More

We had 1 experienced skier and 2 beginner skiers. We had the greatest ski instructors, I wish I can remember all their names, maybe Tom. The weather conditions were perfect and we had actual powdery snow. All of the staff was friendly and the rental equipment was good quality. 1 day we also had a really good lunch there, but... More

To our amazement, the ski resort was open even though it was going to reach the mid 70's during our stay!! We traveled from FL seeking a skiing/snowboarding experience. We found it with Cataloochee. During the cold days of snow, they obviously took advantage of making snow when they could. I can officially say, that I had never snowboarded in... More

It is not the fanciest place but we love it. They have two bunny slope areas for people like me who are scared and then they tons of more advanced slopes for people like my husband and son.

I took my 12 year old son and girlfriend. Neither have skied before. The slopes were almost too crowded but it was manageable. We had a great time and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Don't visit here during the winter weekend or you will be disappointed with the skiing. It's SO CROWDED on weekends. The slopes are ok for the east coast but if you can, drive another hour north to Wolf Ridge to ski. More runs and nicer slopes. I will say the staff at CAT are very sweet but we won't ski... More

I went as a newbie to skiing and after my 2.5 hours lesson I was comfortable enough to ski on my own. Food was good and they had vegan options. Slopes for all stages of skiiers. A great place to ski close to home for me.
