Only a mile hike but not easy. You are often climbing over rocks that act as steps. Some very high. Several places to step over and view Linville Gorge The views make it well worth the effort. Dogs allowed. Small children did well and loved seeing the chimneys and rock climbers. Warning only out houses provided

Beautiful view of the mountain, lake, boat rentals, nice swimming and picnic area and trail. Camping sites or cabins also available. Lodge is perfect for weddings or other events. $2 per person fee to enter off season, $5 during the summer. You can go to part of the lake (no swimming) and headquarters with no fee required.

Hike may be too much for some, but well worth it once you hit the top. If you have ever traveled this part of western NC you have noticed Table Rock along the ridge line. Get the family, bring lots of water and take a trip to the top.

I am an experienced hiker, my husband, not so much. He made it up to the top, but it was not the 1 mile, intermediate hike that the brochure purported. A little more intense than most hikes, saw a few people turn back. Worth the hike up though. Views were stunning and if you are not a newbie hiker, not... More

Takes about an easy mile hike to get to the viewing spot. Well worth it. One of the most spectacular viewing spots of Linville gorge. This is where the military jets practice. This view is incredible summer or winter. Absolutely incredible.... Highly recommend it.

One mile to the top via rock and trail. It's only a mile to the top and on the day we hiked, fog was rolling in and out, but it was an adventure. Had some great views going up and coming down. Beautiful wildflowers all along the trail which was part shallow stream from water coming off the mountain.

Hiking Table Rock is a fun and challenging one mile hike one way. The views of the gorge are impressive. I think anytime of year is a good view as the scenery will change with the seasons. It is quite peaceful and serene. You can also get a nice view from the other side of the gorge at Wisemans View.... More

Table Rock is a beautiful place with two (at least) trails to the top. Although this is the main attraction, the more magnificent hike is throughout The Chimneys, across the parking lot and through the campground. I literally caught my breath the first time I did this trail with my grown (climber) children. Every turn holds another wonder. You are... More
