Winter, Summer, Spring, Fall, this has something special in all seasons. Talk about a getaway. This is a go to place. People are friendly and nature is beautiful. I get away to Wilson's Creek as often as I can. They have a couple of small stores to buy drinks and what nots. The creek is more like a river. Make... More

I did the long scenic nature hike on the Harper Creek trail. It's about 8 miles of loop with the awesome view of the South Harper Falls, and several pools to swim in. This place is beautiful and wild. The trail is not very difficult in terms of the terrain but can be tricky finding the route depending on what... More

This location is at least a 1 hour drive from Asheville. Maybe it's something to check out while visiting Lenoir or Spruce Pine.

I love visiting Wilson's Creek. They're are amazing views from every angle. I actually had my senoir pictures done at Wilson's. The only thing I dislike is, the trash that lies everywhere

I have been going to Wilson Creek My entire life and have enjoyed it's many wonders! From tubing to camping it has been my retreat! I have been privileged to work at Betsey's Ole Country Store and Cabin Rentals this past summer. Other reviews have said this place needs cleaning and it would be helpful if everyone took out their... More

Bring a lawn chair and a picnic lunch and relax on the river bank or on a huge river rock!

This place is so amazing I hate to review it and tell others about it for fear it will become overcrowded one day.

Get a map. You can get lost in this place. Harper Creek falls has a great swimming hole for the summer months. Being only a short hike to it from the parking area, it does not feel "remote" here on some summer weekends. There is a steep descent down from the trail to the water. When I was there last,... After viewing the North Carolina Weekend spot on PBS about Wilson Creek, my family planned a day trip to play in the water. The rapids were a great time, however there was a lot of garbage left behind from previous visitors. Dirty diapers, beer cans, lunchables containers were every where. The remains of numerous campfires were also present. The rapids... More

North of Morganton, in the Pisgah National Forest, start at the Brown Mountain Beach Recreation area. Gravel road follows along this great river gorge. There are many places to get out of your car and get on the river. Bring your swimsuit & towel and have a great day.
