Love going to Ft. Fisher. It is a beautiful recreation area that we can bring our furry friends to. Beach is clean, even on a holiday, not over crowded. The overlook is stunning.

This is the place if you're looking for a beach with a nice sunset and a quiet atmosphere. The sand was clean, and people who did bring their pets, picked up after them. The bathrooms were clean and attended to. All and all a great beach if you just want to sit back and relax, without alot of noise.

The inlet area is a great place to catch minnows. It is also a good place to take photos of the sunset, wildlife, and sand dunes. Closer to the bathhouse, a lot of people swim- the further out one goes on the point, the more fisherman there is.

Bring your camera - loved the natural landscape. Worth stopping on your way to the Aquarium or just for an outing.

Fort Fisher Recreation Area is a great RV/Camping/Tent location for Military, Dependents, Retired. Kure Beach area is a hidden gem a very short, easy walk from Fort Fisher Recreation Area across the street. The Military is redoing the cabins which need help in a huge way. BUT I can write about our experience here. Travel Trailer Hook up worked great.... More

Nice History and I really wasn't happy about people littering the grounds. Glass and cans and trash was spread all over. Other than that it was a great trip.

We stopped by the visitor center/ranger office & viewed the various types of shells that were displayed as well as birds & turtle shells & skulls that were displayed. Our group wanted to enjoy a hike so we opted for the trail which included the WW II bunker that housed the hermit and then continued on to the viewing area.... More

Cold, windy day and still loved it. Great waves, and the trees behind the beach are interesting. Great photo ops if you appreciate scenery. Loved the contrast of the trees against the ocean.

I figured with as many people parked here as there were, there had to be something special about this beach. It wasn't worth the looong walk from the car down the boiling hot sand. I will stick to Kure Beach next time. There are gross dark bathrooms and some hoses at the visitor center. They also have some tables and... More
