Although I wasn't fishing there were plenty of people who were that were pulling up some nice sized fish, the pier was clean and well maintained and people seemed to be enjoying it

Quaint and clean with great view of the ocean. There is a small fee to enter the pier. when we were there in August, it was not crowded.

Went in the evening for a walk as it was close to our condo. It is old and does sway a bit. But that was kind of fun. No one was catching fish because there were sea mullets jumping everywhere. That was really cool to watch that. Not so cool if you were trying to fish. People there at night... More

I paid just a few bucks to fish off the pier and ended up catching my very first shark! What an adventure...AND MEAL! The Avalon Fishing Pier is fun, calming, rustic and trademark OBX, all at the same time.

We went early evening. What a beautiful area. The kids loved the pier with all the people fishing, seeing someone reel in a small shark. We also saw a group of people riding horses. It was so lovely with sun going down ,magnificent clouds and sky. The pier was old but had tons of character.

The only problem was that multiple lines snagged and broke on debris close to the pier. The pier shop also has a great... More

We all enjoyed walking out on the fishing pier and seeing what kind of fish people were catching, and just talking to them, and the view looking back at the beach.

I thought we were back in the 60s and I think some of the arcade games hadn't been repaired since the 60s, too. Pretty dirty all in all and really cheap feeling.
