Be prepared to pay an entry fee just to walk onto pier. Inside looks dilapidated. Staff not so pleasant or welcoming either.

This is the oldest pier in OBX & it's a lot of fun!! They have rod & reels rentals & we've caught some large fish!! They also have arcade rooms, pool tables & foosball tables & during the season they are open from 5 am until 2 am!! It is great for our teenagers & 20 somethings to go hang... More

This pier is nice for families because it has pool tables, arcade games -even with prizes-, bathrooms, and equipment rentals. It has a double seat bench every so often and a fish cleaning station. The staff warns you close to midnight that they are about to close the restrooms. The rod/reel rental is very reasonable. $7.50. The only negative to... More

As basic as it gets. $2/person just to get on it. As a tourist it was still worth it to get pics of the beach you couldn't otherwise, but I couldn't see making a habit of going there (didn't try fishing it, but saw a lot of others with lines in the water). Some arcade games and pretty seedy bathrooms.... More

The cost of renting a fishing pole and bait was somewhere around $25, with an additional deposit for renting the pole. The staff is ok, not overly warm or welcoming. The view is really nice. A cool experience overall for our daughter's first experience trying to fish.

Great fishing pier. $12.50 per person is slightly above average but it does the job. The fish were biting, I used squid for bait and aa lure for the mackerel.

The Avalon fishing pier is a part of the OBX part that still stands today. It's a great place to go and fish, though I usually would volunteer to help the Lion's Club with their annual visually impaired fishing tournament. Yes, the arcade will take your money but there's nothing quite like spending the day on the beach and walking... More

Prices were reasonable. Not over crowded but very busy all along the pier. Friendly staff and other hopeful fishermen. A few benches need repair but most are okay.

we really enjoyed walking and fishing on the pier... However the staff was less than friendly ... It is $2 a person to walk on the pier or $12.50 if you want to fish on the pier... Children under the height of the counter don't have to pay

It is fun to walk out on and see what people may be catching, but it is a little run down. They have an arcade inside for younger vacationers, but overall nothing special.
