This pier is a great place to fish. It is long and has lots of room to move around. The other fisherman were friendly and fishing was good. The cost of bait and tackle at the pier house is high. Getting your fishing supplies at other places will save you money.

The Avalon appears to have turned into a drunken nightspot, based on my most recent visit. It's particularly sad, as most of the other nearby piers have all washed out to sea. The crowd was rough looking, the attendant rude and dismissive, and it was generally dirty and in disrepair.

We chose to stop by this pier because it was closer than Janettes Pier. Huge mistake. The underneath of the pier was littered with cigarette butts and beer cans. The arcade was out dated and filled with rude teenagers. The whole place gave off a very creepy drug spot vibe. My daughter asked an employee where the bathroom was and... More

There is an old fashioned arcade there and you have to pay $2.00 to walk out on the pier. Not sure of the price if you want to fish. It was very old and not kept up well.

Brought my 4 year old and wife and paid to go fishing. There is a 2 dollar site seeing fee for everyone else but that's ok. You can feel the pier move in the wind...I liked that though lol.

We went for fishing only. The game room that you have to walk through to get to the pier is obnoxious with lots of thug looking townies and teenagers. We did catch decent sea mullet on the south side. I would prefer a pier with a solid floor so no cell phones and other gear can fall into the ocean.... More

Food, night life, and fishing! Friendly staff, beautiful ocean views while eating. Locally owned and family operated! Great spot for family fun!

If you like OLD, then this is your place. Had a little snack shop, fishing supplies and video games. Seems a little sketchy, maybe because it's old. There is a fee to walk down the pier. Been to many piers this is by far the worst I've seen.

Avalon Pier... Well let's see... They hate tourists, they are your typical locals. Drunks and druggies. Need drugs? Go here...and Jolly's. Conveniently they are close to each other. Not for families or non drug users. You also have to pay to walk on the pier. Go to Jennette's Pier.
