As an amputee I am limited to where I can fish; so I find Avalon Pier a great location for me. If I do not have gear with me, I can rent it!

I fish. I love to fish. I love to get a carry out from Awful Arthur's and eat on the pier while watching my line and hoping for a hit. One of these days I'm gonna catch a nice fish and take it over to Awful Arthur's and have them cook it up for me (that'll have to wait now... More

I stopped here just to check out the pier for fishing on a later trip. I thought the pier was set up nicely and very clean.

Located around Milepost 6 & just across the street fm "Awful Arthur's" (itself a great local eatery + gift shop!) ... the Avalon Fishing Pier is 1 of 3 fishing piers on the beach between Kitty Hawk & South Nags Head (MP 18). Google it and you can find a "Pier CAM" feed that shows the local weax as well!... More

I love coming to avalon to fish and watch the sunrise! Ive always been treated like family here-unlike some of the others reviewing here?! Always a pleasure fishing with the long haired Scotty Jones! Love that guy! Wish I couldve made it down for the drum blitz! I will continue fishing avalon pier until I am no longer here on... More

Grab a casual lunch in the small, quaint restaurant on the pier. It's very casual....the view is outstanding.

The "game room" scene inside the pier house is a bit "local" meaning they are a bit territorial and appear to dislike tourist that may be just "browsing" meaning not fishing.

I have been going to this pier for 10 yrs or more. While it isn't the most expensive, prettiest, or have all the bells and whistles of other piers, the staff is friendly, the pier is worn in (except the parts rebuilt after Sandy) and offers restrooms and cleaning stations. If you like to talk with the locals and just... More

My friends and I were staying down the road from the avalon pier and decided to walk up the beach to it one night. It was $2 to gain access to the pier but I think that is reasonable. It was very windy but a nice experience!

I'm not sure what some of these other people writing reviews expect but Avalon Pier is exactly what it was designed for, a fishing pier. First off you do not have to pay to park, you only pay a fee to drive out on the beach, second the $2.00 fee to walk out on the pier is no different then... More
