Great Wine, great food and friendly

I have never been much of a wine drinker, but now I am. Love the place, I recommend the "Lightkeeper" if you like a lightly sweet wine.

Stopped here on way to week vacation in OBX. My wife and I have been to wineries from Canada, throughout N.E. US, and to other mid-Atlantic states. Have even visited vineyards out to Missouri. I must say the man who "attempted" to conduct wine tasting for us and others was overwhelmed and clearly needed help. He left us waiting until... More

Thanks for the review, Sanctuary Vineyards appreciates your input. We have heard from customers that we were understaffed this Fall, and due to the increase in business we are opening another register and adding staff for the coming year. Elton was certainly overwhelmed at times at the tasting bar, and apologizes for not being able to get to you in... More

This is an amazing winery for all Wine lovers of European Style wines. Sanctuary is seated on an amazing geologic rock formation that allows it to grow french and european grapes unlike all the other coastal wineries that can grow mostly muscadines. That being said, what the winemaker is doing with these grapes is astonishing. Every wine we tasted was... More

We have been enjoying North Carolina wines every chance we get... We enjoyed the Wild Pony and their dry reds, most of the whites were pretty light. Wish we would have heard more about the wine...

So my hubby decided to bring me down to the OBX for our 1 year anniversary celebration. On the way we stopped here and, let me say, what an amazing visit! The gentleman pouring our tasting was so fun friendly and knowledgeable! Plus the other patrons that stopped in were super sweet and friendly! Oh and we're not huge white... More

We wanted to be sure we stopped because of a previous experience and although the wines were delicious we were disappointed with the overall experience. First it was raining hard and we thought the place was packed only to find out we were the second of two couples there. ALL the parking places not in the grass and a distance... More

If you are thinking of going to Martins for your muscadine wine, why not go to this little Sanctuary Winery and get friendly service too? They act like they want your business and you never feel rushed at Sanctuary.

I never heard of Muscadine grapes before I got to North Carolina. The wild horses in the area thrive on these grapes, and Sanctuary Vineyards turn them into the most delicious sweet wines! The staff at the bar were friendly and knowledgeable. We bought a case of the Sweet Serenity and Light Keeper, some for us, and a few for... More

Visited this winery on our return to Virginia Beach from the OBX with a group of 8 women. The gift shop is nice but there wasn't a cashier in there or anyone to help. The only guy there was the poor, harried older gentleman behind the bar trying to deal with a difficult computer, customers and actually pour wine for... More

I apologize for your experience at Sanctuary Vineyards recently. Your review is fair in describing some of the difficulties that we experienced last weekend. We typically staff additional tasting room attendants on the weekends and keep an up to date Point-of-Sale System, but had issues with staffing and computers that day, and for that there is no excuse. So, please... More

Great wine tasting and nice gift shop. Wines were excellent, owner was there to answer questions and provide background information on the vineyard. Very friendly place, a must for wine lovers!
