So we rented and house beachside with a pool for the holiday week due to some events of our children in Myrtle and we are just not fans of the crowds. We picked a house near the end of the island with no developments behind anticipating a quieter week. Well, Arthur came and hit the OBX resulting in evacuations to... More

Use to love going to Holden when I was a kid. Everything is changing. They are closing a lot of places down or don't have them open. Most of the stores are fancy and high priced anymore. The store I did most of my shopping at was the 50% off store beside the bridge. I know a lot of it... More

Not a public beach like Wrightsville or Carolina, no big parking lots just a few small places to park. It was wonderful and peaceful. Not a lot to do in the town if you are looking for a night out but perfect vacation for the kids! We loved our week at Holden Beach

Holden Beach is a gem if you are with a family and want a relaxing laid back vacation. If you are into nightlife, fancy eating, and lots of diversions (movie theatres, water parks, etc), go to Myrtle Beach. This great week at Holden was spent walking, playing games and in the ocean, really communing with family. Went to turtle talk... More

Apparently its considered a sport in the area to take flashlights out on the beach at night, blind Atlantic Ghost Crabs, and stomp them to death. When I inquired of the large group of people who were doing this why they were doing it, they answered "because its fun!" Crabstomping is FUN?!? Its not like they are going to eat... More

This was a second trip for our two families. We rented a very comfortable house right on the beach which set us up for many great hours on the beach. The width of the beach varies a bit with more width on the western end but we had more than we needed. The water drops of gently which is great... More

One of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It's not over populated so you can really enjoy the serenity of it. Very family friendly area with plenty of great haunts to eat at whilst enjoying the relax atmosphere.

Holden Beach is so beautiful and not very commercialized. You can walk to the end of the island and enjoy walking on sand bars and play in tide pools when the tide us out. Good restaurants and shopping are within a shirt driving distance to either Southport or Wilmington. It's a lovely place to stay !

Just the most relaxing beach on the NC coast. Period. The best part is that FAMILIES rent the houses, so there's NOT going to be a ton of kids and folks drinking. We want a clean and quiet beach that is good for families and this one is it!!

We loved Holden Beach. If you're looking for a quiet, laid back beach trip, this is the place! There are just a couple restaurants on the island and a couple ice cream shops. It's not busy like some beach towns. It's very quiet and relaxing. The restaurants have live entertainment on the weekends. Other than that, fishing, swimming and beach... More
