I visit this site nearly every time I'm in Highlands. It's about four miles from town and worth the climb. There's a loop trail up and down one side has more steps and is steeper the other is longer and less sloped.

We did this hike yesterday with our four year old, the views from the top are absolutely beautiful! We started off on the left, which seemed to be the "backwards" way, but would highly recommend this route for those with smaller children as it is quite steep climbing up but significantly less dangerous than climbing down this route. The hike... More

My husband wanted to go hiking for his birthday so White side was the mountain of choice. We arrived early in the morning (9am) and it was a cool breezy start. It's October so earlier the better because the parking area is small and fills up fast. There's a $2 parking fee. It was cloudy and foggy early but by the... More

This was an excellent hike for all ages and even for those with some MINOR knee problems. We chose to go up and down the left side since one member of our party did have knee issues. There are minimal steps and for the most part it's an easy walk. Keep in mind, though, that the trail does have some... More

The easy trail hike is mild and there are a number of interesting sights on the way to the top. The view at the top is outstanding.

we took the 'left' at the fork in the path, which was the easy long slope upwards and steep stairs down. One of our party had health problems and he made the assent slow and steady and had no problems on the way down. we were fortunate as it was a crisp cool day in Oct and the sky was... More

Although this is a loop hike, we did an out & back on the trail that splits off to the left. The trail to the right seemed too technical to do with our dog. The main trail was an old jeep road with 3 lookouts at the top. We went on a Saturday morning and it was somewhat crowded. Worth... More

Yes its a hike to the top. But who's in a hurry? Take the "Old Road" to the top - its easier than the trail. Wear some good hiking / walking shoes - take your time and your camera. The views are absolutely breathtaking when you reach the cliffs. This guaranteed to be one of the most scenic views within... More

Plan on 2 hours to hike up and down this mountainside. Multiple outstanding views as you get to the top and traverse across. Take water with you, a jacket and sturdy shoes. Best to take a helper with you:) Trail is treacherous so watch your step. And yes, 60+ yr. olds can do this!
