Really enjoyed this. Can't wait to return. Want to do more geocaching next time & bird watching. Picked up some trash on the mountain, want to keep it clean.

Stunning views of the mountains. Would hike it again. Saw other enjoying the view and popular place during the leaves changing in October. Not too crowded though.

I prefer wooded mountains to mountains with bare sides. Some people like the way it looks and others like to hike it. I think there are prettier places nearby to visit.

Last Saturday (11/01/2014) with partial snow flurries and high winds, we hiked this beautiful mountain to the top. What a treat. I love mountains and hiking. The hike is about 2.5 miles up and down for the loop. One side is more challenging than the other. As you leave the parking area the trail splits left and right. The left... More

Went to Whiteside for view and was told it would be safe for a solo female traveler. It was there were plenty of people there and people were friendly. Parking is limited so get there early. Thanks to reviews here on Tripadvisor knew to take the road to the left. It was a much easier climb. Once we got to... More

We walked up Whiteside in late October and had the summit to ourselves. On a clear day you can see several distant ranges. We took the "old road bed" that's to the left after you climb the initial steps. It's moderately wide and has plenty of rocks, but they are not steep. It took us about 20 minutes to get... More

Awesome experience, be sure to add this one to your bucket list. The Shadow of The Bear is only visible for a few weeks of the year.

This is a nice hike, with many options for scenic long-range photos around the summit. Best on a week day, when it's not crowded,

Our friends took us on a hike to view the fall foliage from the top of Whiteside. The view from the top was well worth the climb. You could see NC,SC,&Ga from the top. It was a clear gorgeous day we will never forget. Lots of families and dogs along the way. Everyone was enjoying this beautiful place.

Fun hike with beautiful views-we like going up the right side-its a bit more challenging. Allow about an hour and a half - especially if you like to stop and enjoy the views. Great foliage and wildlife sounds plus history lessons along the trail. Enjoy the journey! Carpe diem!!
