We were a bit afraid when climbing the initial snowy steps. However, our 66 year old guide was confident and so we kept going. Definitely worth the view at the top! The hike down was much easier/faster. We thought it would be tougher with the slippery snow but no one fell. This is the only hike during our stay we... More

Good short hike with 8-10 % grades. Over 2mi and greats views. This mountain loop is a part of the National Park system in North Carolina.

the hiking and the views are just breathtaking .I like the charm of a small town, I hope that highland n.c. will not get much bigger or the charm will b lost forever .the locals are some of the nicest people you will meet

Moderate hike up a paved/rocky path for 30 minutes. There were several icy patches on the rocks in mid-Nov so be careful. There is also a suggested 2.00 park fee. Once at the top, incredible views of the whole valley area and distant mountains. Well worth it, but not an easy hike.

I was a little nervous about how my 6 year old would handle this hike, particularly the first sunny day after 14 days of rain. She enjoyed it and made it up and back without much difficulty. The view from the top was worth it. However, the trail was very wet after all that rain and I would definitely recommend... More

This is a really nice hike that takes about an hour. It takes about 20 minutes to get to the top of the mountain and the effort is worth it. Spectacular views that will take your breath away. The air is crisp and clean and will make you feel like you are on top of the world. It is moderate... More

The trail on the way up was beautiful with fall colors but sadly our view on this trip was very clouded from the fog..however we have been during the summer and it is a amazing site!! The trail is easy

Convenient trails forming a 2-mile loop take you from the large parking area at the edge of a subdivision of nice mountain homes to a dramatic overlook located on the eastern continental divide. From there you can look southeast, down the Savannah River watershed, then turning eastward, see the headwaters of rivers forming the southeastern edge of the Tennessee River... More

The climb is moderate as far as difficulty but the views from the top are well worth it. Going down the mountain is obviously easier.

This is listed as a moderate hike but i found it to be easy! Since it is a loop trail you can chose which direction you go up! If you stay on the wider trail it is easiest and you will see the other part of the trail on the way down. There are spectacular views and just when we... More
