I live at Wildcat Cliffs right next to Whiteside. We hike on the trail quite often and usually bring our Golden Retriever as it is an easy hike for the dog. As a previous reviewer indicated, there are two ways to go up the mountain. I would highly recommend the left trail as it more of a stroll up the... More

Ample parking but make sure you have $2 cash. The hike up the 4900 ft high mountain is a loop with a steeper right side and an easier more stroll like left side. I'm not much if a hiker and not the fittest person and the steep side was relatively easy for me. Just make sure you have your footing... More

This is a great hour-long hike that gives you good exercise and breath-taking views. Take a bottle of water, a granola bar and your camera, and you are all set.

This is a great place to hike up and actually stand on the Continental Divide. Fantastic views of the mountains.

Perfect loop and hike for our family. Payoff at the top is unbelievable views for miles around. We walked up the easy side and down the steeper slopes/rocks and it felt like the perfect workout with the kids (7 and 11). Our (very) casual round trip took us almost 2 hours. I couldn't imagine coming to the area and not... More

Tried to hike one day last week and it there was too much snow and we weren't dressed appropriately. Went a few days later when there was less snow (but more ice) and was able to make it up to enjoy the wonderful views. Always one of my favorite hikes. I recommend hiking up the left side unless you like... More

2.2 mile trail moves up the mountain at a nice easy grade. The scenery and native plants are specatcular. I have hiked this trail many times over my life, and its beautiful in any season. Take your cel phone all you AT&T and T-Mobile etc users, this is Verizon territory, but all the other carriers work well up there, plus, its... More

I walked up the steep side and down the easy side. Even the steep way up was fairly easy for a moderate hiker like myself. The payoff in the form of great views well exceeds the ease/difficulty of the walk. I will definitely do this again as it's a really easy day trip and takes about an hour round trip.... More

I've walked up this mountain for years now, dating back to the 1980s when there were much shorter guard cables. I've come up here with children and even when you have to carry infants and it's never been very difficult (this from someone who is not a big hiker and who now has an aging and sore knee). We've come... More

You have two choices with this trail. It creates a loop, so you can choose to take the steeper steps and trail up or the more gradual longer trail. Whatever you do, you will come back the other way, so you don't miss anything. The views are spectacular from many different angles, so you'll see more of the area than... More
