Interesting museum for me because almost all of the displays were mixed media . There was a visiting exhibition by Eddie Hamrick; very cool to see his work progression over 40 years. Even though not usually a big fan of paintings I especially loved the folk art display upstairs as it sparked a lively discussion on "what is art". But... More

Thank you for both your review and your visit to our Art Museum. I am sorry about the piece that was not well displayed. I believe the piece you are referring to is our "Mannimal" piece. That piece is located in the office upstairs, our reference library. It is not currently on display though as many people comment on it... More

Admission is free. Nice history on Carolina Pottery. They have limited exhibits and offer classes too.

This facility continues to impress. The entire experience of walking the space is as nice as the art itself. Well worth the time to visit.

For an Art Museum in a town the size of Hickory it's extraordinary. It's a lovely small museum which always includes an interesting exhibit about a local culture or event.

Hidden gem next to Science Center, but many don't go because there's not enough information or friendly greeter to answer questions.

What a treat to walk into the Hickory Museum of Art. I was once a school, with the main exhibition hall in the former gym, with large windows. The atmosphere for the entire museum is calming. There is a permanent collection of beautiful glass work. And a large collection of folk art. Quarterly ekphrastica poetry works are read by the... More

Eddie Hamrick's collection of fine woodworking is being exhibited through the summer. Eddie is a master craftsman, and his work is the best I have ever seen. If you appreciate fine woodworking do not miss this exhibition. Eddie is teaching school kids at the museum most mornings during the week.

I have been a member of the Hickory Museum of Art for many, many years. Their regular art collection is outstanding and well worth the visit. However, it amazes me how they get nationally recognized exhibits from museums and collections around the country. One of my favorites was a giant photographic collection of ground zero at the World Trade Center... More

The best exhibit I ever saw there was the William Starkweather paintings. The museum is laid out very well and the staff is very educated about their permanent collection.
