After a fun 2-3 hours with the grandchildren at the Science Museum in this same building we thought we would check out the visiting exhibition of travel photography by Stephen McCurry. This was enjoyable but we moved in to briefly check out the glass and pottery room but the several rooms of their extensive folk art collection is very impressive.... More

Lots of hands on for the young ones but not so much for older teens or adults but still a good learning experience.

Thank you for your time and visit. We try hard to have something for all ages as we are free to the public. We are very happy to have the newly relaunched little hands Big Hands Gallery for kids to have a chance to interact with art and learn about what they are seeing. I hope that you you will... More

Hickory Art Museum is a happening place where enjoyment and learning go hand in hand. There is a parade of traveling exhibits that support the high caliber permanent collection. Oftentimes the artist will give a first person account of his work, ambitions, and motivations, while patrons enjoy refreshments and browse the beautiful museum.

Thank you for you review. We are always trying to find wonderful and interesting artists along with tying the subjects in with education for both young and old. Our receptions are always a highlight for any exhibition when we have a chance to invite the community to speak with the artist about his or her work. More

69 photos by world known photographer, Steve McCurry, who took famous photograph of Afgan girl in National Geographic magazine 20? years ago are on exhibit until May, 2016. The other 68 photos are not as famous, but many are actually better.

As others have noted, the famous National Geographic photographer Steve McCurry has a stunning exhibit ('the Afgan Girl!') until next Spring; one of our local artists, Wink Gaines, ALSO has an exhibit-but not for long. The two exhibits are simply OUTSTANDING and should not be missed! Enjoy-we are so very fortunate to have both of them! An early Christmas treat!... More

I never cease to be amazed by the quality of exhibits presented here. The permanent exhibits of glass works and folk art are worth the trip alone. The rotating exhibits cover a wide spectrum from local artists (who've made a national name for themselves) to international artists that local folks will love. A local poetry group also provides some extra... More

For a small town, HMA is a golden nugget. The current Steve McCurry exhibition is fabulous. This museum has a strong sense of education and love for the community.
