Our visit was more than a little disappointing. When we got there (a group of 5 of us), it took the guy at the counter, Mitch, 20 minutes to get us in because my mom wanted season tickets. They charged her $70, then only were going to allow her and my 2 year old son (who would be free anyways)... More

Alan Barnhardt and his staff have done a wonderful job with limited resources, here. Our two girls especially loved the sharks and stingrays. My wife and I liked the Coastal Carolina exhibits. Hickory offers some nice restaurants in the vicinity as well, and the people are very friendly here.

...but they are temporary. There are over a dozen species in the exhibit and they are beautiful! Some will land on you once the specialist sprays your finger with sugar water. It's very peaceful and there is so much to learn throughout the SALT Block - Science, Arts, Literature, and Technology. There is also an aquarium with both salt and... More

We have loved the Science Center's planetarium and laser light shows; and also their aquarium...It's a gem of a place for family learning experiences with hands-on learning for children.

We love visiting the science center with our granddaughters. We have grandparent passes so we can visit with discounts to some of the events. Has different themes each season. curently late spring and summer is the live butterfly display. The planetarium is great. The laser shows are really good. we usually bring our granddaughters 3-4 times a year. There are... More

Good things come in small packages. This is true for the Catawba Science Center. It is housed in a cool, retro, renovated old school building. It's not a Discovery Place like in Charlotte, but it is a right-sized fun "sciencey" place to go. Not as big of crowds, so a big place is not required. Has cool stuff to look... More

We always have a great time at the Catawba Science Center! Our children love the experiments, planetarium, and exhibits. Our favorite is definitely the aquarium! The staff is always friendly and helpful, and they work well with children.

I accompany my grandson on his class on field trips to the Science Center. For sure this is no "Discovery Place" but it is one nice little Science Center. Traveling exhibits keep it fresh and entertaining as well as the aquarium section which has a touch tank and fun shark exhibit. There is a planetarium as well. All in all... More

We went to the Catawba Science Center with low expectations, but we were happily surprised with what we found there! Everyone in our group (ages 2-41, including one hard to please teenager) enjoyed their time here. Each room in the center has a different theme with VERY hands-on exhibits. If you want to learn about science and nature, there's lots... More
