My grandchildren and I visit the Science Center regularly...there are multiple rooms with exhibits, a "hands on" learning area that has an element of "play" associated. We enjoy the aquarium, "touch pool". There is also a planetarium (which I have not visited)

We have been here a couple times. I appreciate them trying to provide some type of science center for the kids but 50% of the hands on exhibits don't work well or at all. The funky smells in the building and temperature fluctuations are unpleasant. Very young (3-6 years old) kids will enjoy this more than than older kids. The... More

This is a very nice place to entertain kids on any day of the week. Whether it is the aquarium or the museum it is all great. The staff are very friendly and knowledgable. I am impressed.

This is a very nice facility for what I consider a small town. The aquarium was wonderful. The staff at the aquarium was eager to point out the various fish and tell us about them. The science center was great for our grandson, son, and grandpa too! The hands on exhibits were fun and easy for little hands. The North... More

We took my teenager to the science center and she had a lot of fun. The aquarium was neat. Loved the stingrays though they like to play and not let you get your hands on them when you reach down. The rest of the museum was a lot of fun too.

Our visit was more than a little disappointing. When we got there (a group of 5 of us), it took the guy at the counter, Mitch, 20 minutes to get us in because my mom wanted season tickets. They charged her $70, then only were going to allow her and my 2 year old son (who would be free anyways)... More

Alan Barnhardt and his staff have done a wonderful job with limited resources, here. Our two girls especially loved the sharks and stingrays. My wife and I liked the Coastal Carolina exhibits. Hickory offers some nice restaurants in the vicinity as well, and the people are very friendly here.

...but they are temporary. There are over a dozen species in the exhibit and they are beautiful! Some will land on you once the specialist sprays your finger with sugar water. It's very peaceful and there is so much to learn throughout the SALT Block - Science, Arts, Literature, and Technology. There is also an aquarium with both salt and... More
