Been going here since I was knee high to a grasshopper! The taxidermy animals have been a child favorite for myself when I was young and all four of my children when they were little sprouts. Just waiting for some grandbabies to take for a visit now! The Observatory is awesome and they have regular special attractions, family passes, and... More

The Schiele continues to upgrade and change while keeping some of the original items I remember as a child. The Schiele has a planetarium and an outdoor farm/village area as well. We recently became members of the Schiele well worth the money for all the benefits with surrounding museums!

My wife and I enjoyed our visit. The museum had very interesting dioramas. Exhibits were well maintained. The only disappointment was that the outdoor Indian village wasn't open. The lady at the ticket counter said they lacked enough volunteers to have it opened. Even with this disappointment, it was an enjoyable day.

Took our 4 grandchildren to the museum for the day . They range in age from 10-18mos. There was much to see and do for all 4 of them. The day we went they had 1800's day for the kids to see how things were done back in the 1800's and the kids enjoyed seeing how Easter eggs were dyed... More

I have been going to the Schiele for decades and one thing enjoyable about this place is that there is always something new at the Schiele! The kids love it and they even sit still for the planetarium shows! We are happy members of the Schiele Museums including the Natural History which are on the same property so it's like... More

My review only describes the interior exhibits. There is a large outdoor attraction encompassing a nature trail and historical period dwellings. The weather was not suitable for a walk on the trail; fortunately that provides a reason to return. The Schiele Museum is spacious and clean. There are a variety of permanent galleries that feature North Carolina natural history, wildlife,... More

We came in winter so we couldn't really experience the outdoor village, and we had a 1-year-old so we didn't do the planetarium, however there were still plenty of other great exhibits there! We enjoyed all of the exhibit halls, and were pleasantly surprised at the very large mineral/gemstone collection. Great visit!

We are from Raleigh, our museums have a lot more money but although this one is older the museum is awesome and I suggest anyone in the area visit. The layout of the exhibits and the detail is really better than any museum we have seen and that include Raleigh, Boston, Atlanta, etc. They have cool structures outside as well.... More

i went here with my wife and 6 year old daughter. She just finished studying the solar system and we thought this would be a great way to "conclude" the unit, something that would bring it all together and make space exciting... Well, we could not have been more disappointed. We live in an amazing age of technology, and that... More

This is a great place to take the family. We go about twice a year. Their exhibits change so it's always something new. They also have a small outside area with a mini-trail and some buildings representing the time when America was being settled. There are fees for the main exhibits, but other areas of the museum are free.
