"They have a dinosaur!" said our grandson. I think that is the first thing children notice as you walk in the entrance. The skeleton towers above you. Great local history. Great science! Kid-friendly with a back country to explore.

Stopped by the museum just to see the outdoor display of old 18th century buildings. They were moved from other places and were reconstructed on site to show how the people lived then. There were 2 goats, 1 named Peaches who is an endangered species. Met a volunteer who said they have outdoor displays that show how the buildings were... More

Overview: The permanent galleries were average or slightly above. The live animals, however, appeared to be very poorly taken care of and in poor condition. Go on the museum website to see planetarium shows and the dates they are shown, I was not told about them at the front desk. Bring student ID's for a discounted price. I was traveling... More

I would have given this a 5 rating except for the front-desk staff. The attendant did not mention the planetarium shows. I had to ask her. I might not have even known about it except that I had read about it online before coming. Also the staff did not tell us that all of the exterior portions of the museum... More

Our children grew up visiting the Schiele and the planetarium. It was entertaining as well as educational. Now we have the grandchildren to also enjoy this long time Gastonia resource. Schiele provides for a nice visit. Displays are well done and appeal to all ages. The planetarium programs are first class. Be sure to see the Hubble program. Also take... More

The Schiele Museum regularly holds Native American exhibits and events. A good outing for the entire family that won't break anyone's budget.

The Schiele Museum in Gastonia is very interesting, they have live animals mixed with the stuffed ones and the kids can learn a lot about the animals, the farm, planetarium, historical village and Indian Village are very nice. It is a history class right there. Prices are affordable, Museum + Planetarium are 10 usd per adult and 9 per child... More

Very nice dioramas and displays. A lot of animal pieces. The historical village and Indian settlement were not open to see but we did have fun with the sheep and chickens. Took about an hour and a half to see everything so this would be a good day trip experience.

This is an amazing place. I didn't expect this in this small town! They also offer a summer camp that is awesome. The planetarium is awesome, I love to go just because it is so relaxing way to learn. The farm is also a cool feature of this Museum and they have some cool events there!
