Great people and a wonderful time. Very helpful and polite workers. The owner was also on hand and a very nice man who took extra time to instruct my daughter and nephew. I highly recommend this mine.

You get 2 buckets of local dirt for $15. That's not salted with anything. You just have to be lucky. They offer way more expensive dirt that is local and if you just want to get dirty and find things from who knows where you can by gem buckets that are salted big time. The staff was great and it... We've been coming here since 2005. You could say it's our family's happy place. Everyone has earned their honker card, which allows you an extra bucket of dirt with each visit. Richard who runs the flume and Warren, the manager have years of experience and we enjoy catching up with them when we visit. Wear old clothes, be prepared to... More

This was fun, but a lot of work to get the mud off the rocks. I got the native which was for rubies, and also the one with fun gyms.

While this is fun, don't buy into the hype. The "rubies" are pink at best and have no value. You can spend a fortune on a bucket of dirt for each person, wear your hands raw and then spend a fortune getting a junk stone polished.

We had a great time gem hunting here! We got one of the seeded buckets and several natural buckets to sift through at their water trough. Even found a 25 carat ruby! Staff was available to help with any questions and help id stones, they were great and very friendly. We were with family on a reunion trip and all... More

Second trip to this mine nothing much changed. Small rewards for a lot of dirt. The staff still as gruff as we remembered. Saw only one decent stone found while there, everything else too small to be cut. Mine is for sale and I can see why.

My husband and I went gem mining today at Sheffield Mine. This was our first experience mining. It was wonderful!! We didn't find a honked but we did find some small ones and more important we had a great time. The guys working there were very helpful and friendly. This is a great place to come with families or couples.
