We ended up here because other mines in the area were closed on Sunday. We had a 5,6,7, & 8 year old with us. The gentleman behind the counter started by telling my son, who was so excited he could hardly stand it, to settle down and not ask questions and wait for the rest of his party. Then half... More

We took our in laws and my 2.5 year old daughter here, as a last resort really because all the others were closed on Sunday. I wish we had just turned around. The owner is rude, the prices are stupid, there is a guy who hovers over you while you sift and acts like you are too stupid to figure... More

Wound up having to go to this place because all the other gem places were closed on Sunday. Workers were incredibly rude and it felt like they were trying to get us to leave as fast as they could. They kept telling us to move out of the shade and into the sun because other people were coming (no one... More

My family has been coming here for years! Although we have tried mining in other areas while on vacation this mine is a real mining experience for the entire family. With admission my husband and I chose two native (unsalted) buckets and out kids chose one native bucket and one rainbow or "enhanced" bucket. The kids found rubies in the... More

We went mining for the first time and my boyfriend and I both found rubies! I found a 9 carat and he found a 6 carat and a 7 carat, plus a few small ones. We definitely got dirty, but a little mud never hurt anyone! I would recommend knowing a little about what you're looking for before you get... More

Unfortunately the weather was not cooperating with us. A wicked thunder storm stopped us right in the parking lot! !! We called from the car and we're advised to come back another day. ...... (5 hrs of driving is part of that so, we missed out and they did too!) Can't promise that I will make it there again, but... More

Something the entire family can do. I can't say it's clean fun but a little mud never hurt anyone. I found beautiful gem stones and some beautifully colored stones. Some is jewelry quality.

If you're expecting to find multi-colored gems and rock specimens, you're gonna have to buy an enriched bucket. If you want to try your hand at some actual gem hunting, come on down. You're going to get REALLY dirty. Bring lots of towels, sun screen, and maybe some rubber gloves. You've got to work at the native buckets, and that's... More

Went with our grandchildren age 9 and 5. They both got the rainbow buckets and were totally thrilled with the "gems" they found. The helpers were nice and joked with the kids.

I had been to the mine 7 years ago with my two daughters. One was 17 the other was 5 at the time. We had such a wonderful time that my husband and now 12 year old daughter went again. The mine is very similar to before other than the stairs were rebuilt. We had a great time and found... More
