Not the least expensive game in town, but not at all outrageous. Conveniently located on the US 441 bypass, very knowledgeable and patient staff. The seeded buckets are well seeded with many good gems. Went two days in a row and really enjoyed it both times.

We loved it so much we had to visit again. Although I chose a different bucket to sluth through (Citrine and Amethyst)I was slightly* & I only mean "slightly" disappointed. My husband and sonon the other hand, found a boat load of their pick of buckets(Ruby and Sapphire?) I believe. .. Anyway you look at COWEE RUBY MINE you can't beat... More

Loved the experience of watching kids find gems in their pans. Worth the trip to enjoy the people at the flue.

The staff was friendly and helpful to the kids with their treasure hunting. Prices were reasonable. We got the $25 bucket for the kids to share. It was plenty. It's real dirt and clay, not sand like some places. They got dirty but had a blast.

We stopped here because I found rubies mining at Sheffield Mines and wanted to get them cut. The woman working was absolutely wonderful. She will be getting my rubies and turning them into a total of 6 carat ring for me and mailing it to me back in PA. I wish we would have mined here instead of Sheffield, the... More

Absolutely was pleasantly surprised at the sizes of the gemstones. It was great to just sit and sift through the sluth. We met the granddaughter and she was so helpful. (Love the Pink Beatle car... $ gas $) (We were the family near Wake Forest) This place truly deserves an A+ / you leave happy and satisfied with your "loot".... More

This was our 2nd visit. We found it changed from our 1st visit a year ago. May be they were having a bad day but the woman in charge was not very friendly or helpful, a bit sour, actually. The pail yields seemed less than the previous visit and there was not a lot of variety from the other mines... More

We visited three mines in Franklin, and we ended up coming back to this mine for a second visit & to purchase some buckets to take home. The people were very friendly & helpful, and we got some really great price. I thought the prices were great for the things we received. This is the mine I would recommend, especially... More

We stopped by the mine because it was close to the highway and convenient. We had our granddaughter with us and we did pay for a bucket that yielded some nice gems;she was really excited. Later that afternoon, on our return to Franklin we stopped again and let try her hand at gem mining again. The people there were very... More

I love going to Cowee Mountain Ruby Mine. The staff is great and extremely knowledgeable. This was my third trip to the mine and was not disappointed. I found some great stones and I'm getting them cut and mounted as I always do each time I visit. Thanks Sonja and John!
