We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Mason's Mine. The staff is friendly and personable. Ms. Judie made us feel welcome when we walked in the door. She explained the different types of mining, and helped us decide which would be best for us. Once we began mining, Charlie was very informative. He shared his knowledge and expertise explaining which rocks... More

We were on the hunt for a native mining experience and Mason’s mine was it. As newbie’s we did not know what to expect. We had sluiced an enriched bucket elsewhere and knew that native mining would be very different and boy, were we right. From the moment we drove in to the time we left, we felt welcomed. Sky... My wife and 10 year old had a blast. My 6 year old boy had more fun in the stream. We camped on the property and were the first ones to start the following day. If I do return I will be better prepared because the camping is primitive.

On a scale of 10, I give it a 12. Dakota, Ernest a and All were extremely helpful and friendly. I was planning to go to a different mine the next day but instead I went back to Masons. I highly recommend going there for a good time.

Vacationing in Highlands, NC we had planned to visit Jackson Hole Gem Mine. We mentioned our plans to a jeweler we met in Highlands. He had grown up in the area and suggested instead that we visit Mason's. My husband and I had a marvelous time! We were thrilled with every rock/gem/mineral that we found. Because the native mining can... More

I must preface this review with the disclaimer that I am not a "rockhound" by any stretch of the imagination. I accompanied my husband and friends (who are true rockhounds) to this mine. First, it is way out in the woods. Keep out a sharp eye for the small signs or you will never find it. The map on their... More

We did a lot of research before selecting this mine. The Trip Advisor reviews were especially helpful. The Mason website was also very informative. We went on a Friday morning, arriving when it opened as suggested in reviews. However, it was never crowded and it was very well staffed, so it would have been fine to arrive at anytime. The... This is one of the real "native" mines that doesn't bring dirt in from elsewhere, so what you find has never been found before (although you do have the option of buying a "salted" bucket, which is nice for the kids). The crew did a great job of explaining things and helped go through our sifters to make sure we weren't... Stopped here due to being recommended by a jewelry shop. We decided to do the salted pile of 5 buckets for $25. It was a BLAST!! The staff was extremely friendly and Dakota (sorry if name misspelled) he was there for any question we had! 5stars to him also. The unsalted is where you mine a field that could or... More

We arrived at 9:05 am and had such a good time we didn't leave until 4:30 pm, just ahead of the rain. We were the third car to arrive and were greeted warmly and shown by real examples in a case as what to look for. Outside, Earnest brought us to the ore spread areas and gave advise as to... More
