We all had a great day here! It was a great learning experience and a great metaphor for life in general - sometimes needing to work through a lot of dirt in order to discover the gems ....

Our family of eight visited two days over Thanksgiving. Our four grandchildren(ages 3 to 6) were beginners in North Carolina, the mountains, and mining. They mined enriched buckets which were perfect for them. Everyone was so helpful, and we had a great time!!

Had a great time here. We traveled from Florida. It was way up in the mountains, but man what an experience. Going back in the springtime with friends! The helpers , Ernest and Ardell were absolutely wonderful. It was fun , affordable ,family friendly and it was also very educational. I highly recommend this spot for mining gems!

Location is pleasant, but the gem mining was much less productive than average. We mistook the place for Mason Mountain Mine that was recommended by friends. The Mason Mountain Mine turned out to be a far superior place for serious gem miners and the owner gave more intelligent information with regards to the gems. Felt that the Mason's Ruby and... More

We are also disappointed with your lack of good finds. We really do like to hear about our customers good finds instead.Unfortunately there is no way that we can make sure that our customers come out with gem stones that meet their expectations without putting the stones in the dirt for them to find. I have checked the reviews of... More

Masons is just flat out amazing. The owner of the mine is a little gruff but once you get past that you'll find that he is a real nice guy with a passion for gems. The mine boss, Ernest, and other staff (Dakota) were awesome. They had a wealth of "real" knowledge about gems and are there specifically to help... More

My husband I had a really great time. We didn't find any ruby's or saphires but it was something to different to try. We spent 5 hours mining.

Spent a long day here. This dig your own site is a lot of digging and little finding. We found small pieces. Rice size. The largest was only about the size of a pencil eraser. The crew was helpful. You are digging in old mine material they turn over once in a while. Not a place for kids unless you... More

We visited Mason's in June and had a real good time looking for semi-precious stones. We found a large Amethyst that had no cracks in it. The lady said that we could get a 10 ct. stone. So I did that and put it in a silver necklace for my wife. we found several more stones and a large Ruby,... More
