This is a great way to spend a day, and judging by the assortment of people at the water sluice it appeals to a wide range of people! Who doesn't love the idea of finding a nice, big gem? I do advise wearing very old clothes, of all the things we did on our trip this was the dirtiest of... More

It should be called masons sapphire mine.. you have about .1% chance of finding any rubies which are really just red sapphires but rarer.. I didn't know that from reading reviews. It is far down the road once you see signs just keep going and going.. You start off filling 2 buckets with dirt which is really fun picking a... More

We love this mine. Been here two years in a row. They know their stuff, it is NOT rushed, and we just really enjoy it. Very dog and child friendly. We like the "dig your own" as it's more authentic. You find less but it costs less and you can spend hours (seriously) digging in that mud. Highly recommend this... More

My family had a great time with Ms. Judie and Dakota. Very friendly environment and fun for everyone. This place will be a staple for us when we visit the Smokys again.

This is the best. We love all everything, and had alot of fun. The staff was friendly and helpful. And thanks to TripAdvisor the address we put into the GPS got us there with no problems. Overall this is an A+.

Mason's a great place to go! We have taken our sons almost every year since they were about 4. They love it. Be forwarned it is a messy task, that can stain your clothes. Mason's is a little more expensive then most of the others, but there is definetly more bang for the buck there.

My wife and I spent the afternoon at Mason's. It was a relatively warm day in early August. We closed the place down. Those boys helped us out the whole time, even finished our bucket up in the creek when the sluice shut down. It is a bit of a drive from Franklin but keep going, you'll get there. The... More

Miss Judie, Earnest, Dakota, and team were so helpful and accommodating. Our little family of three was able to experience a fun and interesting few hours mining for gems. We chose a salted (already loaded with real gems from other places) bucket for our daughter. I helped her sift through the sand for real gems. My husband wanted to go... More

We visited here on Sunday, August 9, 2015. I'm a geologist and I can attest to the fact that this is a real emerald deposit based on the integrity and type of soil I dug into and the associated minerals. My fiance and her grand daughter enjoyed it almost as much as I did. We found quart, mica and hornblende... More
