Nice welcome center located in a historic house that was moved to the very end of Broad Street, near the harbor. This is where you buy tickets for the trolley tour of the historic district. Nice gift shop (including a wide selection of books), double porches with rocking chairs, overlooking the harbor; a nice place to eat a takeout/picnic lunch.

We had a great visit to the Barker House and learned quite a bit of history while there. The docent was very knowledgeable and had a keen sense of local lore. Overall, we would rate this as a definite "Must Do"

Allow about an hour. The staff are friendly and well informed. The Barker House is one of several worthwhile attractions is Edenton, which is is a unique, fascinating small town, especially for Colonial America history buffs. My wife and I drove about four hours from Central North Carolina and thought that the trip was very worthwhile.

Many tripadvisor reviewers have raved about tours of this house. When we entered there were docents milling about who welcomed us but that was about it. We read about the Edenton Tea Party and visited the rooms on our own. It is a pretty house with a great location on the water. It has public restrooms so use them before... More

Enjoyed learning something of the local history and being able to sit on the porch and enjoy the view of the water

The guide was extremely nice and informative. You can tour the house at your own pace. You can learn a lot about the town and it's history. Great stop!

Barker House is near the water and a beautiful building to see. There are items for sale here, too. Go up to the top porch and sit a while

Lots of printed (free) information, lots of books and such to purchase that were full of information. Guides were friendly, helpful and made some wonderful suggestions. Porch overlooking the water was wonderful to sit and rock and relax. Great place to check out while in the area.

When I said I wanted to stop in Edenton, I was told to stop at the Barker house - I had no idea the women (Mrs. J. Barker) had organized a tea party by the women of town and therefore caused quite a stir with the King (who thought the women backwards of course). We had a lovely guide to... More
