Don't what I was expecting but the Barker house was just OK. Had some very interesting information about the house and the town, but it was just OK. Person answering questions was not as informative as other homes we have visited.

The views from the porch alone are worth a trip to the Barker House, but definitely go inside and speak with the volunteers and visit the gift shop. There are interesting exhibits upstairs and the view from the upper porch is breathtaking. You can also purchase your tickets here for the trolley tour, another worthwhile addition to your trip.

The Penelope Barker House is a mainstay of the Edenton experience. It a lovely start for your day in Edenton. Wonderful views and photo opportunities abound as it overlooks the waterfront. It has a great staff and gift shop. At the beginning of your Edenton day or at the end, enjoy a relaxing rock on the waterfront porch. The Penelope... More

The house belonged to the Bakers and Mrs. Baker was one of the originators of the Edenton Tea Party.

Barker Home is sitting beside the water. There is a great wealth of information there in the gift shop and with the staff.

The Barker House always has beautiful decorations at Christmas. During the weekend of the Christmas Candlelight Tour, you get your tickets there and they serve real alcoholic Eggnog and other treats. The views from the home are beautiful.

Barker House is right on the water and sitting on the porch is a must. Interesting history--ask about the recent renovations. Rotating exhibits on the upper floor and a good gift shop. Free parking adjacent. Open on Sunday.

Our friend who lives in Edenton gave us a great recommendation of the Barker House. We drove there and park for free. We first walked on the pier and look at the lighthouse and soaked in the nice cool breeze. Then took the tour by a volunteer hostess and it was nice to go on every room and we could... More

The Barker House is lovely and has a good size parking lot. It is free to park here and start your tour of Edenton. We went inside and had a nice introduction to the town by a volunteer hostess. She first told us about the house after which we were free to wander around on our own. She also gave... More

We had only a few hours in town, but parked at the Barker House and did some exploring. Really enjoyed our time here!
