My first time to the Carolina Theater was to see a show (Sinatra Sings Sinatra) and also to prepare for a special event in the ballroom following the show. Let me just say, I have been in this business for over 15 years, and I have never seen a more dedicated staff, and gorgeously-restored art deco theater, and a dedication... More

Really gorgeously redone interior for this theater. Nice concessions area at the entrance, including a nice selection of tap and bottled alcohol. Theater was nice - the balcony was good, though I wouldn't sit in the first row as the front sat quite high and it made it difficult to see. If you sit back a couple rows though, the... More

This historic theater was built in 1926 in a Beaux-Arts style. It offers live stage performances and concerts in the beautiful theater and indi films, classic films, and foreign films in the movie theater. It also has 2 museums....a History of the Carolina Theater and a "Lest We Forget" museum on segregation. It was the first theater in Durham to... More

The Carolina Theatre was built in 1926, and served an important role in the history of Durham during segregation. The theatre now has two main performance spaces, a movie theatre (about 350 seats) and concert stage (about 1000 seats), with a ballroom and a museum exhibit. It is an excellent concert venue for jazz, blues, any straight-forward concert where you... More

Even though we've lived in Durham for 20 years, we've visited the Carolina Theater more in the last year than the previous years combined. The current management does a great job of booking music, comedy and spoken word performances. We've seen seen Dennis DeYoung, Greg Lake, Delta Rae, Steven Wright and NPR's "Moth Radio Hour" here and would have probably... More

We saw Keb' Mo there and really enjoyed the concert. Nice quaint theater. We were in the 2nd row and acoustic started a little off but sound board folks adjusted nicely. Drink prices were reasonable at 4-5 dollar for good beers. Staff was wonderful. Shout out to Lisa Jackson. She was so nice to us. Will get on their email... More

Carolina Theater is not far from DPAC. This theater has been restored. The floor seating is great the balcony seating is horrible. I am short, but we had to sit sideways in those balcony seats. The floor seats provide plenty of leg room. I don't think there is a bad seat on the floor. The staff are always inviting and... More

Weather you are attending a live concert or a movie, the Carolina Theater offers a beautiful Beaux Art venue in which to relax and enjoy the show. Lovingly restored and continually improving, the Theater is located in the downtown area of Durham. Large enough to host some truly world class pro formers yet small enough to feel intimate, this venue... More

We attended the "everything is spiritual tour" at the Carolina Theatre in July 2015. This was a wonderful experience and a very clean and elegant facility. I would highly recommend it. The staff was very friendly and helpful as well.

I went to the cinema portion, which was a little on the small side, but the films they show are great. I peeked inside the theatre and it was beautiful! Easy parking, handicap friendly.
