This is a great place and great people. For shows and movies, the management really cares about you and the people who are there to help you. You can't go wrong going here.

An old time theatre movie house that has had nine lives and going strong. We saw a Gilbert and Sullivan show which was a delight. They have everything: shows, music, movies. We got last minute tickets and were in the back of the orchestra where the balcony overhang was rather low and prevented the seats from being tiered. So the... More

We attended a Durham Symphony concert at the Carolina Theater. Seated in the first row of the balcony, we experienced excellent sights and sounds. The Theater is in very good shape for its age.

I have seen plays, a nurse's pinning ceremony & my daughter's ballet recital here. I was impressed with all of the above. There is no parking that is free unless you park along the street in the vicinity. However, there is parking in the garage (for a fee) across the street. They have concessions. It's pricey but most concessions are.... More

I love to take in musical performances at the Carolina Theater. Although it's an older venue and always needs some repair or renovation work, it has great character. Very Durham, very cool.

We saw our first show here, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. The place has a doze atmosphere and every seat has a great view. The acoustics were perfect and we had an extremely nice time. I would come back again as we really enjoyed the atmosphere.

Large enough for a theatre feel, but small enough so that every seat has an excellent view. Downtown within walking distance of several good restaurants. Fresh, real popcorn (not the yellow stuff).
