I typically only go to the OBX in the winter - partially because it's cheaper then, but also because the quiet beauty and serenity of a winter day here, with the crowds gone, the gray and powerful north atlantic whipped up, really can't be described until you've experienced it. The places to stay (I always use VRBO) are much cheaper... More

Good atmosphere and yummy specialty drinks!!! The staff are friendly and it's nice to see a local business flourishing in a touristy area.

First of all, really cool vibe. It's like a bookstore/coffee shop and they were playing some alt music that I loved. It's quickly become one of my favorite places to get some work done on the computer. I think they get their bagels from Bonnie's (local shop) and they're so good. They also have some really, really good muffins. All... More

What a great little place! Loved the atmosphere. Comfy chairs and tables inside and on the front porch. The coconut crunch was so tasty, just like everyone had said. It wasn't a strong flavor but just enough. Grabbed a few biscotti to dunk and sat outside on the porch it was so relaxing.

As someone who loves to visit local bookstores no matter where I travel, I was glad that we stopped in here. It was smaller than I anticipated (only about two aisles worth of books), but was nice and intimate. With lots of local books and recommendations mixed in, it was a nice place to visit during a chilly afternoon in... More

Whenever I find myself lucky enough to take a summer family vacation at the Outer Banks, I make several trips to the Duck’s Cottage bookstore and coffee shop in Duck, North Carolina. I go right to the book section while the rest of my family goes for the lattes and pastries first (both of which are delicious). The independent coffee... More

When I'm visiting Duck/Ocean Sands I always stop in to say hi to Allen and his delightful staff, and sip his delicious coffee. The selection of reading material is also noteworthy. So many interesting choices that you won't have any trouble finding something interesting to read. A true favorite in my world. See you in November. Can't wait!

Rude staff and mediocre overpriced coffee. Cute building though. Better to go to the coffee place in Corolla in the main shopping center.

We normally stay in Duck for our Spring and Fall vacations, but this year I booked our house in Nags Head. I still drove up to Duck every morning to get the WSJ - Duck Cottage is the only place I can find it, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. See you in the Spring!

This one stop shop is the best morning place in Duck. Get your paper, delicious coffee (and lots of frozen drinks when it's hot outside), pastries, and lots of books by local authors. The thing that really stuck out to me though, was the warmth with which i was greeted by the lovely lady behind the counter. In such a... More
