Whenever I find myself lucky enough to take a summer family vacation at the Outer Banks, I make several trips to the Duck’s Cottage bookstore and coffee shop in Duck, North Carolina. I go right to the book section while the rest of my family goes for the lattes and pastries first (both of which are delicious). The independent coffee... More

When I'm visiting Duck/Ocean Sands I always stop in to say hi to Allen and his delightful staff, and sip his delicious coffee. The selection of reading material is also noteworthy. So many interesting choices that you won't have any trouble finding something interesting to read. A true favorite in my world. See you in November. Can't wait!

Rude staff and mediocre overpriced coffee. Cute building though. Better to go to the coffee place in Corolla in the main shopping center.

We normally stay in Duck for our Spring and Fall vacations, but this year I booked our house in Nags Head. I still drove up to Duck every morning to get the WSJ - Duck Cottage is the only place I can find it, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. See you in the Spring!

This one stop shop is the best morning place in Duck. Get your paper, delicious coffee (and lots of frozen drinks when it's hot outside), pastries, and lots of books by local authors. The thing that really stuck out to me though, was the warmth with which i was greeted by the lovely lady behind the counter. In such a... More

Bookstore is quite small but there was a decent selection. Was looking for more in terms of children's books. Mostly board and activity books rather than story books. Coffee was excellent as was the HUGE blueberry muffin which was more coffee cake like. I also enjoyed the locally made greeting cards and made sure to pick up a couple.

I would travel back to Duck, NC solely for this coffee shop. Baked goods freshly out of the oven, delicious drinks, and a laid back, cozy atmosphere. What more could you ask for? I loved browsing for books while waiting in line then making my way out to the porch to sip on my coffee while taking in the beautiful... More

Duck Cottage feature a huge variety of coffee from straight up to their famous "Mucky Duck" -- served cold with caramel, chocolate and, of course, whip cream. Space is small with limited seating and a modest "bookstore." Nice place to start your day.

Great coffee, good sweets, books and newspapers. Sat in an adirondack chair on the front porch of this old-fashioned cottage, sipping coffee with a sweet...and MY sweet next to me...while drinking in the scent of the jasmine surrounding the porch. It is an oasis in the middle of the swirl of the usual beach activity.

Wife loved the coffee - cool place to buy and read books - solid stop - highly recommend it to the casual fan.
