We have been to this beach a couple of times in the past. It can be very interesting and scary if you are not used to driving in the area. When we go it is off season but it is still a blast! Was on our bucket list to do & you do not need a special permit to go... More

Absolutely beautiful! 4x4 beach with great sand and clear water. We were able to set-up our grill and play some beach games, Worth the 25 min drive from Duck Island where we stayed, plan to spend the better half of the day and bring your grill and games

So we were here in the winter so this isn't going to be a warm fun in the sun kind of beach review. We came up here with the tour and it was fascinating to see the ocean on a really nasty weather day and see the houses on the beach with no real road. I definitely would recommend a... More

Friendly town, beautiful scenery, sights to remember! Took a great tour of the area while on the search for the wild Spanish mustangs of Corolla

A really great place to just go and relax and enjoy the beauty of the outer banks. We went here to have a relaxing vacation and it was by far the best place to do that.

If in Outer Banks don't pass up a chance to get out to Carova Beach. It is 4 wheel drive only but it is amazing! It is beautiful. We have been a few times and we have always got to see the wild horses...they are majestic! It has never been crowded and is a great place to surf fish!

We enjoyed the 4x4 beach area so much! It was our favorite part of our trip to the outer banks. We saw the wild horses every drive we took. We defiantly look forward to coming back!

There are many ways to see the "wilds" of Carova. You can drive your 4 wheel drive vehicle, rent a Jeep, join a tour, ride in the back of a suburban or open backed bouncing truck, properly permitting your ATV (please do not ride illegally) on your way to view the ponies that live there. Remember that you are riding... More

After Joaquin the access road--Rt 12 -- at high tide got VERY narrow. The trip to the recycling center was fine and we saw horses. There rest of the road was normal.

In October this beach is virtually deserted. It is a beautiful place to just drive to the Virginia line or just stop to see the wild horses walking along. We also went hunting for seashells and other treasures. If you go over the dunes, there is a small park and a volunteer fire department, where during the season they are... More
