Been visiting the Outer Banks for over 40 years but never made it this far north before. It was FABULOUS! Gotta have that 4x4, but the beach was easier to drive on up there than farther down at Hatteras. Was amazing to look out and see horses in the yard. Rented from Twiddy and they were great, good website. Felt... More

It is an awesome place.. Just be prepared. No stores, no gas. All wheel drive wont get it done if your not carful. Great place to relax and get away from it all.

This place was amazing. We did a guided tour with W.H.A.T. And it was worth it. I never knew there were beach roads! A whole community/town only accessible via driving along a "road" on the beach. The experience of how this community exists is worth the price of the tour. We did see wild horses meandering about in lawns, in... More

If you can drive a four wheeler safely, without speeding or getting stuck this is the place to see beautiful water, beach and wild horses. Fun-Fun-Fun!

This is not the place to go if you have children! Speeding suvs day and night! There are two sets of lanes in front of you and behind you on beach. We were mislead because it was the off-season that traffic would be light but it was the opposite. Can't take chairs to the water can't set up a tent... More

We went on a tour! It was a cold, blustery trip, but well worth it. The wild horses are beautiful! They are fairly well protected. For the first hour, we just saw houses! But, then it started----just one sweet horse after the next, grouped together feasting on the greenery in the area! We really enjoyed this opportunity to view these... More

I have been going to Nags Head since I was a kid but a few years ago I started going here with a friend and now this has become my favorite vacation spot, a great example of what a true vacation should be, no asphalt, no stores (other than firehouse) deffinetly not resturaunts. like an island all to itself

Driving on the beach? Most definitely at Carova! Park your 4-wheel drive vehicle just beyond the surf. Pull out your chairs and set up for the day. Fishing, games, sun, food ... and even the occasional wild horse. Heaven on Earth!

Visiting a place as isolated as Carova Beach is an eye-opener. We saw the area as part of a wild horse tour, and it is lovely.

It's an amazing site when you can see wild Mustang ponies on the beach along with the wide expansive beaches as you drive from Corolla to Corova all the way to the Virginia border! If you have a chance, it's a must see!
