We went to see the Wild Horses of Corolla but they were not around that day. We will definitely go back and maybe take a guided wild horse tour. We enjoyed driving our 4x4 truck along the beach. I was surprised to see so many homes on this unpaved stretch of property. We saw several people were enjoying the beach,... More

I Have driven on many awe inspiring highways, and this is definitely in the top 10!You are driving along and you have beauty of the crashing Alantic surf crashing on one side and the other side with sand dunes! You can stop to have a picnic or surfcast fish...this place is nature in the raw! If you are lucky you'll might... More

We had read about the tours but they seemed pricey. Family member with a 4 wheel drive said he would find us a pony and he did. Be smart, don't slow down going up the dunes and beware of the deep puddles. Saw 2 male horses rearing back and playing, 2 others grazing in a homeowners yard, and a solo... More

It is a LOT of fun going off road, especially in this unique place, BUT here are a couple of things to remember before you venture out. Make sure your vehicle is 4x4, not AWD (all wheel drive). Vehicles without a ample amount of ground clearance aren't going to clear the ruts in the sand. Don't drive like a maniac,... More

I read a ton and watched every YouTube about driving up the beach before i went. I have a 4x4 Honda Pilot so I was a bit concerned. Tours average $40 per adult and $20 per child so being a family of 5, it would have been over $150 to do a 2.5 hour tour. I asked at our resort... More

Very quiet and pretty. Not quite as commercialized as some beach resort cities. Most of the shops are a good way off and the few that are near are perfect for the needs of the average tourist. If you don't want to pay tourist prices you can go into town and there is a stretch of shopping and restaurants that are popular to... We enjoyed the 4x4 drive up the beach and then across to the sound. We were lucky with the weather and the horses. There is quite a lot of traffic and people on the beach, so take it slowly. Well worth it.

Must have a 4-wheel drive to get here. And after the stuck car we saw, it is best to do the tour than to try it without 4-wheel drive. Friends took us up to the area. The houses are amazing, but the horses, wandering freely among them, were the most exciting. Make sure you have your camera. zoom helps, as... More

Very nice, but remote area - we saw LOTS of wild horses in this particular area and some beautiful houses. Must be on a tour or driving a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get to this area.
