Every year my family go's to Cherokee to shop, sightsee, and in general, have a great experience. We also go to Oconaluftee Island. We like to take a small picnic, then we love to feed the ducks. The town of Cherokee in general is intreaguing....I love being able to "rub shoulders" so to speak with the native American townfolk.

A great place for a peaceful evening walk. Quiet, gentle flow of the beautiful oconaluftee river. Occasional evening programs like the telling of Cherokee folk stories adds to the experience.

I don't fish, but my husband and son enjoy it. So we came to hang out with them. Water is great for wading in and there are bathrooms at the park. Our first visit there was for the trout derby. Where parents and kids fish together and the kids can win prizes. This is a free event & it is... More

This is a great park; and a great place to hang out with your family. I would recommend just going there to walk around; or maybe take a picnic lunch. If you are visiting the area; I would recommend just grabbing a lunch somewhere and going to this park to eat. Loved watching the kids play, and people trout fishing.

One of our best stops EVER. There is a Bamboo Forest that is exceptional. The sun setting with a mist in the middle gave it an other-worldly look that was creepy and beautiful at the same time. The sound of the river is wonderful and we could easily spend many hours there. We got ice cream and soaked up the... More
