This is a great park. Bring some bread to feed the ducks and geese. Nice walk. Find the bamboo forest - it's worth a walk thru.

We stopped by this park, on the way to Smokies. The bridge, benches, park and the riverside, all give it a scenic view.We were not there for long, but i loved every moment I did spent there. So I would say a definite stop for all guys heading to smokies.

Great place for nature lovers. Absolutely beautiful and quiet depending on the time of year you go. Very good place for families to go to.

The kids really liked being able to get out and wade in the river, and we liked the accessibility. It's a nice break from the activity of the day, a chance to slow down and stick your toes in the water.

Plenty of parking and river access. Bridges over the river all over the place. The area is kept pretty clean and is just a gorgeous fun place to take the kids to splash and play on a summer day.

We have been twice while on vacation with our 4 year old and 15 year old. Both loved it! Wade around, build dams with the rocks, sit in the shade, or fish. Free and safe with easy parking. Let the kids play an hour or so while you relax.

Oconaluftee Island Park is a great place to bring your kids for some free fun ! My kids who are 9 enjoyed playing in the "river" and there's is also places where you can set up a spot for a nice little picnic. The water's not too deep so even little kids can enjoy it too. I recommend water shoes... More

We happened upon this beautiful park when we were out riding from Maggie Valley to Cherokee. Wow! What a beautiful place to sit and relax. The kids didn't even have bathing suits but we let them splash and play in the river anyway. It's a little piece if heaven.

I rode my bike through this pretty park. People were picnicing and the kids were having fun playing in the shallow part of the river.

If you aren't into souvenir shopping, this is a great place to hang out for awhile. Families with young children will especially enjoy it because its a great place for wading. Water shoes are helpful for walking on the stones but not a necessity. There is a bathroom changing area at one end.
