I have been going to Cherokee since 1972. I can not believe how much has changed, yet how much has stayed the same. This is one of the reasons that this is my favorite vacation spot. I have seen this park go from just a rock island in the middle of the river to a beautifully sculpted park. A great... More

I love the fact that I could let my three year old son play in the water without the fear of drowning. As far as the older kids, they would use their floats to tube on the deeper end of the creek. Great area for picnics and relaxation. Love this place!

Nestled right by the road so it is easy to access. Children were having a blast playing in the shallow water and fishermen were nearby trying to snag a trout.

The most awesome place to stop to rest with your children. Picnic area to cook out or eat. Kids can play in the river , not too deep. Cherokee bonfire on Friday and Sat. summer nights.

We saw this beautiful and large park on our way to Mingo Falls so it was an easy decision to stop there for our picnic on our way back to Maggie Valley. The park was teaming with families of all sizes: some just sitting on the benches enjoying the water and ducks, some wading in the stream, some tubing, some... More

The park has several benches, and picnic areas with tables to sit on or have a family gathering. There are public restrooms and a foot bridge to cross from side to side. There is plenty of shaded areas to bring your chairs and sit and enjoy the river. The river has several shallow areas to walk out into or sit... More

I attended 3 Bon Fires this Summer. Each was different than the other as not one person comes to tell the stories of the Cherokee people and the animals of the forests and mountains. Was fascinated enough by them to come home and look up further information online on many Cherokee pages. Fully wheelchair accessible as is the Oconaluftee Island... More

This is the best natural place to hang out if you are staying in Cherokee for a day. There is tubing up at one end of this river. In the park area, it's very shallow so we often look for rocks to skip while we have a picnic. We have stayed at a local hotel and at a chain hotel... More
