We went as a surprise for our 14th anniversary, and Unto these Hills was our highlight. I purchased tickets online and had our seats already. We had 4th row up and in the middle for the performance. Easiest parking is to leave your car for free at the Museum and ride the free bus up the mountain. It stops right... more

I am really surprised and saddened at some of the negative reviews. Unto the Hills was beautifully written, performed, and serious for those with Cherokee blood. This is not some made up fiction play put out there for entertainment but a production in hopes that people learn of the sorrowful history of the Cherokee people. The wars, the exile, and... more

My hat is off to the Cherokees for retooling the show to "better tell the story" and for taking ownership of its production. But, the execution is poor. I was reminded of sitting through a high school drama class production of a standard play. You know that the story is good; You know that play can be properly produced; You... more

Though well intentioned, this amateur performance is frankly embarrassing and at $22 a ticket is a rip off. Save your money and see the outstanding museum, which tells the Cherokee people's story AND is professionally done. This show could be great: all it needs is a script that is not completely lame, actors who can actually act, and dancers who... more

I was excited to see "Unto These Hills: A Retelling" and was thrilled that it was to be educational as well as compelling as I was really hoping our 6 year old and his 10 year old friend would get something positive out of the experience. The last outdoor production I witnessed was at the theatre of the Asklipion of... more

I had seen "Unto These Hills" several years ago. We took a Girl Scout group, and wanted to give them something interesting and educational. They were a little concerned about the time (couldn't stand to be away from the video games that long), but were really surprised at how the show moved along. Compared to several years ago, when the... more

I don't know what it was like before they re-tooled the script, but I think they need to do some re-drafting. I was really looking forward to the show. I even ordered my tickets months in advance. By intermission my husband was ready to leave. He thought it was so bad that he just wanted to go. We went to... more

Our two teens liked "Unto These Hills", but my wife and I thought it a bit cheesy. We had hoped for a more authentic experience, especially since the play has been "re-worked and updated" recently to reflect a more ethnocentric drama. more
