We read a lot of reviews about horseback riding in and near the Smokies. It seemed like most had reviews that included some combination of a ho-hum trail, oversized group rides, so-so guides, or even sickly horses. We didn't experience any of that at Smokemont Stables. The stables are located in a beautiful nook within the park itself, and the... More

We did a trail ride at 11:00am for the hour long. They are very fast and organized to get us on the horses. Roy or Ray was our guide, quiet man but very nice. My son who is 6 was lead by lead line and guide horse which was nice. Horses were very sweet and well kept. It was my... More

Went for a 1 hour horse ride in the Smoky Mountains National Park with hubby & son. James & his crew have things organized very professionally with riding helmets available (mandatory for young kids) and additional staff to guide younger ones. (For me the guide was invaluable - I felt far more relaxed knowing my 8 year old was being... More

We booked this activity at the behest of our 9 yr. old daughter while we were vacationing in the area. We booked the 2.5 hr. long trip that takes you to the waterfall. Honestly, we initially thought it was going to be way too long and boring, but we wanted our daughter to have a good time. Weren't we surprised!... More

This was a really unique horseback ride - though we are experienced this ride is good for new riders - young children on a horse in a lead rope. Our guide Earl was so nice and helped with photos and lots of info. We would love to do this again - take the 2 1/2 hour trip!!

We couldn't get in for the 2.5 hr ride but took the 1 hour ride anyway. So beautiful. Staff seemed like old friends. Dillon very easy to talk to and knowledgeable about the area. Will definitely return on our next visit to the Smokies.

This was a great experience! My husband and I went on the one hour ride with our guide Earl. He was very knowledgeable and took the time to take our picture half way through the ride. I was very nervous but the guides and workers were all very accommodating and my horse Levi was absolutely perfect. I would recommend this... More

The best trail ride ever, We traveled from Ocala FL to Cherokee NC to take this ride. Jason and his team make every rider feel welcomed. The ride begins after short safety instructions. Your guide (ours was Buck) guides you along with history of the area. The winding trails bring the rider through the river and one experiences riding a... More

We just used Smokemont Riding Stables for an activity for a group of travel camp boys. I've taken kids riding in Wyoming, Colorado, and other places...but this was the first time in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We were 100% pleased with our experience. Friendly and professional staff. I was really impressed with their use of riding helmets, pre-ride... More
