After driving several miles I was worried I had taken the wrong road. The only sign we saw was a small green sign mounted on a stop sign at the entrance that said "Mingo Falls." I asked at a convenience store on the way (after the Indian School) and they confirmed we were on the right road. The 150+ steps... More

Well worth the 150ish step and short hike to get to the falls. I really wasn't expecting much and was really surprised by the height of the falls. There is also some great geology to see along the trail.

This was highly recommended to me, but its not that special. A short walk up steps and a short path to see the falls. The falls are nice, but nothing breathtaking. The walk up took me 10 min. Nothing that special.

As some others have indicated, finding the falls is not that easy. There is little to no signage. Use a GPS or Navigation on your smart phone, or if that's not possible, print out the directions before you leave. There is a visitor center in Cherokee if you get mixed up. There is a nice little parking lot and you... More

The hike is a challenging one as you are climbing approx. 150 steps up a steep incline. After going up the steps there is a short, relatively level walk to reach the falls. The falls are impressive. Some posts indicated problems finding the falls. The directions we had were to go out Big Cove Rd. and look for signs to... More

I was a little hesitant and not too happy about climbing up those steps with my 3 year old on my hip, but once we got to the falls, I was so happy I did it! It was so beautiful! We got some great shots of the family and my kids enjoyed it.

Spent a few hours of one afternoon checking out this great little site. You can climb the stairs and admire the beauty of the falls. You can even climb higher up the falls it you choose. My family had a blast and my 9 & 11 year old boys enjoyed the cLimb and the cool breeze off the water.

We have a 3 year old and 7. I would say to see their face when we got on the bridge was amazing. It is woth the 172 steps. It us steep but is something worth the trip. We spent about 35 to 40 minutes round trip.

We heard Mingo Falls were the tallest in the area so we had to take a look. The drive from Bryson City was fun through Cherokee although we did not stop at any of the shops. Signs to the falls are clear and parking is good. Lots of steps up and then a short easy path. The falls are tall... More

Small to medium sized with a modest flow. It takes about 15 minutes to hike from the road and see the falls. The hike is short but steep. At the end there is a rope set up to help stay on the path, the kids will get a kick out of this. There is only a small pull-off from the... More
