Where is flows into Lake Wylie is the best part. But up-river there are a few watering holes (no! I mean restaurants/bars!) that are quite nice. Such a shame the fish camp by the bridge over to Belmont on Wilkinson has closed down, it was a wonderful place on a summer evening to catch the setting sun as it slips... More

It is a great 4 mile walk by the river there is also a put in site for cannoes and kyaks. You will get great views of the river plus birds and other wild life and people on the river..

It is a nice place to kayak if you do it on a weekend when the dam has a release. Watch for rocks and shoals. Can be treacherous at some places on the river.

We canoed here recently in the fall and had a nice time. had to get out of the canoe a few times to get over rocks. Surprised no one has made this an enterprise for canoeing.

I enjoy the outdoors and the water. The fish werent biting, but enjoyed being near the water and being out of doors. Great for boating, fishing and swimming in some areas.

Ranged from average to real good. Like any other restaurants, some days better than others. Overall fine. As to the Catawba river itself, what else can I say, "It's a river."

Fun summer spot! Can get busy on the weekend, and we need more places to eat and drink!

Canoes and kayaks can paddle comfortably for a family outing. You can do a roundtrip from the US Whitewater Center and have great amenities at your put-in/take-out
