I found Lake Norman by accident during business travel. My plane had to do a "go around" while landing in Charlotte. When I saw the lake I had to "google" it. After 4 years of visiting at different times of the year, we decided to move here. Great restaurants, people, 35 mins to either the airport or downtown... not to... More

We reached the lake at 6 PM ET. The perfect time to enjoy the sunset. There was no crowd because it was a Tuesday and lake was so calm. The sunset was a awesome scene to watch. The swimming area was blocked and we could not swim. Nice place to spend some relaxed time.

It is amazing that this is a man made lake. It has stunning views from one place after another. You can see many different types of birds and sunset photography is a must.

Lake Norman area has a wealth of shopping, touring of NASCAR racing shops, and the lake itself is considered the inland ocean because it's water is so rough from all the boaters and jet skiers out playing.

What a beautiful lake! While not much activity on a chilly fall day, it's certainly worth visiting. Try the Rusty Rudder for a classic lake-side bar/restaurant.
