UGH!

One of the worst streets in Charlotte. Always gridlocked, goes through bad areas to get to good ones. Would not recommend for just looking around, unless you want to buy a car... read more

And why? This is a typical high density boulevard like you find in many large cities with no real "attraction" that I can see so don't understand why it's even listed. Although there are lots of shops and businesses along the way, we definitely aren't talking Rodeo Drive here. This is just a route to get from point A to... More

would Trip Advisor ask me or anyone else to rate this road? It's useful to get from place x to place y sometimes, but otherwise should be avoided if possible -- essentially it's a old design, with recent upgrades, highway designed to move people from east side suburbs to downtown Charlotte.

On my recent visit to Charlotte, we drove into uptown on Independence Boulevard, and I really had a blast. They were repaving the road, and all the construction work made the drive super exciting. And, of course, who doesn't love sitting in traffic? I think my favorite part was seeing all the abandoned shopping malls and car dealerships along the... More

I remember a time when independence blvd. was the only place in Charlotte with anything to do. It had everything from high-end shops to luxury dealerships. It even had one of my favorite malls here. Now all of this is almost all gone. It's honestly sad. I try to stay away from this area now because all of my fond... More

I don't know how this even ends up on Trip Advisor but this stretch of road is anything but an 'attraction'. Once home to hundreds of stores with everything from car dealerships to Mcdonald's, this street is littered with unsightly shells of once thriving businesses and construction zones from end to end. The commute through this area during the week... More

Both my boyfriend & I DRIVE down this ROAD everyday for work. That's all it is. A regular road. I'm not sure what makes it an attraction though. There's just traffic, pot holes, & construction. I don't know, maybe if you're that bored you'll go. But it's just a road.

One of the worst streets in Charlotte. Always gridlocked, goes through bad areas to get to good ones. Would not recommend for just looking around, unless you want to buy a car from Rick Hendricks.

I have been watching the construction on Independence Blvd since the late 80s. I try to avoid this stretch of highway if at all possible...a traffic nightmare.

Road is very easy to travel. We go to alot of the events at the old merchandise mart and take this route.
