This is the perfect place to go if your soul needs replenishing, if you seek tranquility or if you just want to be immersed in nature. The gardens are beautiful but in a wild way, not the neatly manicured gardens where everything is in place and not a weed could be found. (Though the Elizabeth Lawrence Garden is much more... More

The smaller of the two. I found this one incredibly informative. Had a lovely chat to the lady overseeing this garden, comparing our English gardens to here. Noting that we share many of the same planting but our winter care has to go above and beyond. It was great to be able to spot beautiful planting that was labelled so we... More

It's hard to rate something when you go on a day that they're not open. Why can't they open every day??

I found this local garden from looking on TripAdvisor. I decided to venture out on a day that was pretty warm but the garden is very shaded and a place for you to refresh if you get overheated. When I went to this garden there was not much in the way of flowers. There are lovely brick pathways, fountains and... More

We stumbled upon this destination, as it's located on a neighborhood street, and blends in with the other houses. What a delight. Lovely shaded gardens to walk through. Quiet sanctuary. Interesting story behind its former owners. Worth a 1 hour stop.

This is one of my favorite gardens in Charlotte. My favorite time of year to go is in April and May. The temperature is very nice at this time of year and the camillias are in bloom. We go for a date day during their plant sale week usually on a Sat.. This happens in April and you need to... More

This a nice place just to relax and enjoy the chirping of the birds and nice gardens. Great history on how it came to be, and how this couple built this garden piece by piece by giving each other gifts each holiday or celebration they had with plants, flowers and even pieces of bricks and stones.

As a gardener hobbyist, I love to see different gardens to maybe get some ideas. This garden is more of the plant, bush and tree variety than flowers. So from that point of view I was rather disappointed. The garden itself forms a beautiful canopy. We visited on June 20th and it was hot so we were pretty well protected... More

Peaceful, quiet, serene. Who could have imagined this sanctuary could grow around bare dirt and 1 tree? The Clarksons in 1927 devoted their time and talents for many generations of animals and people to enjoy. God bless their unselfish efforts, and thanks to them.

Our office did a retreat here and the gardens were great, however the meeting space was really cramped. We had around 35 and although they said they could accommodate that many it was really cramped and was the number one complaint on our employee survey. But again the gardens were great and good photo opportunities!
