The Morehead Planetarium offers a range presentations appropriate for visitors ranging from elementary school to adulthood. There is comfortable seating and student presenters to make your visit enjoyable and informative. I personally found it fascinating to learn that the Morehead Planetarium served as a training ground for more than 60 astronauts serving in the Gemini, Mercury and Apollo space programs.... More

We went for the Jupiter Ball at the Morehead Planetarium so our experience was a bit different than most. However, it still showcased this amazing attraction and is not to be missed! The John Motley Morehead lounge looks fabulous and was a treat to enjoy our gala. The planetarium itself has been well kept up and it is very clean... More

We decided to spend a day on our trip just taking things easy and decided to catch a show at the planetarium since neither my wife or I had been to one in years. We decided to catch the children's show, "The Longest Night." The show was interesting and very artfully done, though sometimes camera angles and swoops made our... More

This a great place for kids! They have a lot of fun things for kids to play with and the planetarium shows are really fun! They look like they are narrated by grad students but that is actually a good thing. The grad students are super excited about their subject and my girls were just mesmerized by the shows. In... We went earlier in the morning and unfortunately there was a field trip going on with little children, but we went in anyways. The real gem of the museum is the interactive light show. The museum is free, but you pay a little extra few for the light show. It's worth the extra cash to watch the show. It's informative... More

We have been several times with our kids age 10 & 12. They have several good shows for this age group. Fun & informative. The magic tree house show is good for the younger kids. There is also a room with some hands on exhibits but it is small & really only spent 15-20 minutes in there. Not a full... More

A hidden gem tucked away in Chapel Hill. Very nice facility, fantastic show. Our guide was very entertaining and knowledgeable! Shows vary so you can choose an age appropriate show if you have kids. This is a "don't miss" outing for Chapel Hill!!

My wife and I made it to the last showing of the day: Star Family. It was in itself rather interesting filled with somethings I learned in elementary but with a different twist to it and it was great to relearn these. I also thoroughly enjoyed the downstairs part of the planetarium which is basically like an on-hands approach to... More
