Sweet place to catch Big Bird in the dome theatre. The NASA exhibits downstairs are a bit dated, but neat. We really enjoyed a special exhibit on the human body, germs, and mucus. They even had a little machine that you fed different ping pong balls to represent food and then it would convert the food to flatus as appropriate!!!... More

This is a wonderful experience for people of all ages. The shows are professional and interesting. There are excellent shows for young children. I would particularly recommend the Carolina Skies program, which is an interactive show lead by knowledgeable "tour guides". Lucky to have a facility like this in Chapel Hill. A treasure!!

During the UNC Summer Session we visited the planetarium twice - once for Carolina skies and once for a talk from Tim Rice about Pluto. The staff are so willing to answer any and all questions, which are in fact encouraged during the presentations that are in themselves so informative. A really great night out, if you're looking for something... More

Part of Univertity Campus. Good parking right at entrance. Excellent programs throughout the year and great activities after the show for children of all ages. Good educational programs. Inexpensive shop in building with beautiful gifts.

Love the stars and when you can catch one of their Solstice evening shows, it is a must see! Day shows are mostly for the kiddies, but I caught a summer solstice show in the planetarium and it was wonderful, it detailed what you would be able to see in our quadrant in the sky and when to best see... One of the crown jewels of downtown Chapel Hill. An excellent planetarium with lots of programs. School kids from around the state come here on field trips during the school year. Programs change fairly regularly. Very educational and visually stunning.

Kids enjoyed the Magic Treehouse Space show, more so than they anticipated. The gift shop was very cool also, lots of fun affordable souvenirs.

We visited the Morehead Planetarium with our 3 grandsons - ages 13, 11 & 9 - and all of us were impressed with the exhibits and information we found. There were 2 special exhibits - one on water facts and the other called Grossology. Naturally the 3 boys LOVED the Grossology room with body function information galore. But even with... More
