I got the impression the state park was by the ocean but no it is by the sound. It doesn't lead to the beach unless you are on a boat. The picture doesn't need to be of the pier since it is no where near it. Not much to see unless you want to walk on the nature trail and... More

While in Wilmington for business, I had to stop by Carolina Beach and stick my toes in the sand. I happened to be there on a night with an absolute gorgeous sunset. It was majestic! Love CB. It's a beautiful little gem that hasn't turned so commercial.

Beautiful beach, clean, and the sunrises are glorious! It was not over crowded, and the weather was perfect with tumbling afternoon storms.. Beautiful!

It's funny..my sister and I were reading reviews while we were already there and I must say that we did not see any Packs of Thieves running around :) Instead we focused on our Family and the wonderful atmosphere, the great shops and restaurants. The Board Walk was a bit expensive, so the kids only got to ride one ride... More

we stayed a week, with a 2 year old and 7 year old, in a tent. Very relaxing, clean bathrooms/showers, water is close to all camp sites but showers may be a bit of a walk. trails are great to hike around, close to a ton of things to keep our kids busy, only cons would be that we could... More

Wow...so much to hike and see, from easy strolling to all day hiking to river watching. Tis peaceful, easy to forget about your worries...be prepared for the deer to casually stroll thru the campground. Well maintained park, trails, and facilities. All the staff are very helpful and cordial. We have tent camped here several times, safety and comfort has never... More

Given how rare it is to see Venus Fly Traps growing in their natural habitat, it was a pleasure to find four along the off-paths of the main trail. We also found a glorious Pitcher Plant, a Sundew, and a variety of lizards and spiders. The park rangers offer walks along the path at scheduled times, so check that out... More

This was our 1st time there, but the trails are marked nicely and the fly trap trail was just the right length for our 6 year old.

The CB state park provides unique paths that wind through swampy, sandy, and beachy terrains. You can hike to parts that was once part of Fort Fisher, a historic fort of the civil war.
