Every year for the last 3 years the tasting tour has been a highlight of our vacation. Jeff and Brinley bring a wealth of knowledge of local history that is truly interesting. It's a blast getting to try the signature dish/drink of some of the best local restaurants and has often dictated where we want to go with our families... More

John and his wife Brinley were delightful and clearly enjoy living here and sharing their knowledge of local history and great places to eat! We were able to eat at places we had hoped to try, and John even asked the Surfhouse to make an alternative sampling for my poor hubby who has a seafood allergy (my bad- I should... More

My mom made the reservations for the tour while she visited. At first I was dreading the tour because I'm a picky eater and didn't think it would be fun. I was proven wrong immediately. Not only did I discover how delicious clam chowder (from Havanas) was, I had a great time learning about the origins of The island. The... More

We took this tour due to the ratings of other posters. We have taken other tasting tours so are pretty experienced with them. While we would have loved to have given this a higher rating, there was just enough wrong that we couldn't. The historian accompanying us, John, was extremely knowledgeable and fun. He really made this tour enjoyable. The... More

Really enjoyed taking the tour with my husband. A historian shared information about Carolina Beach's past while another guide gave us a look into 5 local spots for food. Everything we tried was excellant. I would highly recommend the tour especially if you have never been to Carolina Beach!

This was our first visit to Carolina Beach and we did the tour with our lovely guides (Jeff and Brinley). My friend Patti who lives in NC and has visited Carolina Beach many times, also joined us on the tour. We learned about the history and I really loved learning some Civil War history. All of the restaurants on the... More

The weather was perfect, the food was delicious, and we learn lots from our wonderful guides. As a local, it was a great and fun way to show my mom around town and and get a good... More

It was a wonderful experience! John our host was great, very knowledgeable about the history. The food was fantastic! And all the restaurant people were happy to see us. We had a beautiful day for their first tour of the season. Highly recommend it.

Our group of 5 recently enjoyed this Tasting History tour. During our walk from restaurant to restaurant, John, the historian provided extensive history about the area as we enjoyed fare from various establishments along the way. One thing I learned on this tour, you cannot judge a restaurant by its store front! As a visitor to Carolina Beach, I would... More

We had a group of 10 or so and the owner showed us such a nice time. He was friendly and well organized and restaurants were all great and they all seemed to want us to come back. Very welcoming and especially loved Havana's Clam Chowder but also the appetizer at Surf House was excellent and the plate of catfish... More
