My wife and I decided that we would check out the Great Smokey Mountain Railroad and we had a great time. We were going to try to get the open air gondola but it was sold out so we got the $74 open air car. We received a tote, 2 tumblers, lunch, and unlimited sodas. Our attendant Ashley did a... More

We opted for the gorge trip, assuming it would be more interesting than the miles of grassland depicted in the literate for the other trip. We also selected first class for the seating and meal option; this proved to be the best for us as the roast beef lunch was excellent. Our porter was truly great There are many miles... More

Staff was great, everyone real friendly. This is definitely cheesy and touristy but it's still fun. Ride outside if weather allows. We spent first half of trip not looking at much, except kudzu, unless you stand. Second half of trip they had us swap sides, nice gesture, so that everyone got the great views. I would recommend it and we... More

We drove over the mountain to see what was on the other side and found a wonderful day on the GSMR! The food was good, the service excellent by a fine gentleman named David! The roving folk singers were a nice addition to the ride. We enjoyed a beautiful day with beautiful scenery and enjoyed the kayakers practicing in the... More

Since you ride the train to look at the scenery, the least they should do is wash the windows. The windows in the Piedmont Car are so scratched and old, it's like looking thru fog. I agree with the person who said it was overpriced, and I also agree with the person who said people should have to switch sides... More

We have two very young kids and we had a wonderful time. The ride was outstanding with beautiful views, but it was made by the two men singing folk songs. I have already advised my family to make a trip here!

Very comfortable train, with fabulous mountain, and river scenery. Nice on train staff with music and history included. Then went rafting on this combo trip!

After a few late nights enjoying the musical offerings in Asheville, we needed a day to recover, but hated to just sit around. So we drove to Bryson City (about an hour) and took the train ride through the Nantahala Gorge and back. We had lunch on the train, drinks, and lots of entertainment. Besides the scenery, we watched the... More

We went on a train ride through the nantahala gorge labor day weekend with my two young sons. It was such a great experience for them. We rode in the southland car which has just recently been renovated. The car is beautiful. The storytellers and singers on the train are awesome. Our attendant in the car was very nice and... More

Had a wonderful ride. Food was excellent. Especially the roast beef! Tender and flavorful. Lynn was an awesome server. Go ahead and go first class. It is worth the price.
