Kids enjoyed the Polar Express Train ride. It was quite pricey, but still nice scenic ride and the "North Pole" was cool to see the houses with lights and the funny stories told by the staff about the houses in the North Pole and how they explained why Santa needed a law office and some of the other buildings that... The only thing we got out of the Polar Express was the ticket punch and hot chocolate. We thought the train would stop at the North Pole but it only picked up Santa which left my kids very upset. I wish The Great Smokey Mountain Railroad and Swain County would work on cleaning up the huge plastic bags of trash... More

We excitedly booked our family on the Polar Express excursion with Great Smoky Mountain Railroad where we were told we'd meet Santa and visit the North Pole. The North Pole turned out to be Whittier, North Carolina; an aging, tiny town littered with disheveled homes and shanties in the foothills of the Appalachians and Santa was a fellow in a... More

My husband and I took our 4 year old grandson, and his parents, on this trip. We opted for first class, and all of us had a great experience. Our grandson interacted with staff, and the attendants in our car were quite interactive with the children. Take time to visit the train museum and gift shop. These will be entertaining... More

They really went all out to recreate the experience the kids had in the book. The conductor punched the kids' tickets, they read the book and held a giant copy of it for the kids to see, they gave us little bags of treats and cookies, hot chocolate and a souvenir mug and we sang Christmas carols. Santa boarded the... More

We took all of our grandchildren and children. We were all very excited to see the little ones enjoy the experience. They did enjoy it, but for what you pay could and should be so much better. There was not acting on the train, just someone over the speaker reading the book. The North Pole was just ok and the... More

This was second trip with our grandchildren (age 5 & 10) on the PE (we were here last year as well). Both of our grandkids love this and look forward to it, although our 10 year old grandson may be about done with it...our 5yo grandaughter loves the experience. The 2014 trip was not as good as the 2013 trip,... More

THERE IS NOT A NORTH POLE. The advertisement is misleading. You do not get to get off the train, you pull up and look at shacks decorated with Christmas lights and people standing in their driveways getting their groceries out of the car waving at the train and the train personal saying there are the elves, SICK to know I... So my mother bought 9 tickets for 7 adults and 2 kids. We saw Santa before the ride and ate at the depot. (Eat before you come.) The ride itself was fun for kids under 11. I wish it was a little more structured in the way they did stories and the songs. Maybe if they danced around with the... More

We brought our 5 year old and rode in First Class. Having heard great things about it, we were really excited - only to be really disappointed. It was disorganized, and really lacking what I expected of the Polar Express experience. If you don't sit on the left side of the train, you really can't see Santa at the North... More
