Fun thing to do while in the area. We decided to go first class and get lunch on the train. If you do this DO NOT eat breakfast. We got croissants at the station and they were huge. You are served lunch at 11:30. The lady who helped me book the tickets by phone was very nice. She put up... More

We took a ride on the train for our 17th wedding anniversary. We rode in the Crown class car the Piedmont. Steven was our attendant and he made the ride very comfortable, fun, informative and never let our drinking glass get empty. I can't wait to go back and bring the kids.

My friend raved about this when she went on this last summer. So much that we HAD to do it. We opted for the first class car, and the boxed lunch. We had read previous reviews that the left side was the best side. This is very true, the left side had the best views. The train station is in... More

We took the half day trip and were thankful we did not have to ride on the return trip. The afternoon rafting we scheduled was much more exciting! It was fun to see the old train cars, but we had to stand in the sun waiting to board for 30 minutes. We sat in the open air car which cooled... More

We have visited the train museum but never took the train. Decided to take the First Class trip with dining along the river. You can sit in open air or the adult or children's dining car. Relaxing and fun trip. Some passengers got off to take the rafting trip back. Great for all ages.

Its a nice afternoon with out of town friends; spring and fall leaf season I prefer the old steam locomotive and the "open" cars. I've done the Christmas themed,(best with kids)trip and the New Years Eve trip. On that trip the food was surprising well planned and enjoyable.(A lobster/filet/ foie gras stack)Its not cheap but is worth the experience and... More

The girls loved it! The train ride was very nice and some beautiful scenery along the way. We stopped in an open field to do crafts, putt putt, bouncy house (not able to do because of the rain), met Buddy the Dinasaur and dug for atifacts.

Enjoyed the ride and the scenery but our trip didn't start out well. GSMR needs to do better at boarding their passengers. They tell you to go to a particular boarding gate but then there are no ropes or instructions for lining up. So the people that arrive first wind up being the last to board and since the seats...
