Fun train ride

My son enjoyed the train ride and a tip, get seats on the left side- that is where the view is. We sat in the air conditioned car and glad we did because it was a hot day! The view that we did see was beautiful. Be prepared and bring water shoes because we were able to stop at the... More

let me say, I did NOT ride the train, but the day we were in town, the passengers had been stuck on the train the entire day, due to a breakdown or something. Many not happy campers got off the train that day.

We ended up doing the private caboose party, because it was actually more cost-effective for our group of 12. Ages ranged from 80 to 8 months, and everyone loved it! The perk about having the caboose was being able to bring along our own lunch and snacks. The kids loved being able to stand on the back of the caboose... More

This looks like a really fun ride! Sadly, my wife and 5-year old son, who loves dinosaurs and trains more than just about anything, on his last day visiting relatives in NC, were rudely turned away at the gate for the last ride of the day, even though there was still room on the train! Why? Because they didn't have... More

I agree with another reviewer. It's a love it or hate it attraction. It's not a gorgeous, riding on top of mountain ride. But it was relaxing and fun. And my 2 year old loved it!! I enjoy trains, so it was fun to be on it. Do I believe its worth the money they charge? Not really. But it... More

Great views of the Nantahala! Enjoyed the live music and the open-air car was great for taking pictures.

This ride is beautiful and it has the romance of the rails, but it gets a bit long after awhile. Even the kids were ready to get off by the end of it all. Combining with the rafting is probably a great idea to break up the ride. It is also not the cheapest outing..If you do go check out... More

Not the best railroad dinner trip I have experienced. Maybe the trip would be great if it's the first dinner train you've taken. The food was mediocre at best. The service was great. The scenery all depends on what side of the train you are seated on. A table for four on one side of the train and a table... More

This is a love it or hate it attraction. If you like riding trains, you will like it. If you are expecting beautiful vistas from atop a mountain, drive up the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Nantahala trip in the first class car (McNeill) featured great service, good food and comfortable furnishings. A friendly bluegrass duo plays for you as you... More

Really enjoyed spending time with my wife riding the train to the Natahala Whitewater Center. I am glad we had an air conditioned car to ride in. Like to ride the train in the fall when the leaves are changing.
