Had a great time. Was recommended to try the railroad by the local cal chocolate vendor (great guy) and we were not disappointed. Ashley was our server and was very informative and friendly. Kept our drinks coming and helpful with our questions. Bill and the engineers were entertaining and fun. The ride was fun and great scenery with a stop... More

My husband and I booked tickets on the first class McNeil train car for the Nantahala Gorge excursion. The train ride itself was lots of fun and beautiful. Our server, Renee', was so much fun! She's kept us all entertained and informed. Brought our drinks and food and made sure we were always OK. We chose to have the pulled... More

When visiting western NC, a trip on the Great Smoky Mountain RR is a must. We took the Nantahala trip in late September, an especially beautiful time of year for the ride. The trip is roughly 4.5 hours. Didn't want windows obscuring the view, so we sat in the open-air car, fine even on a damp, misty rain day. The... More

If you are traveling the Great Smokey Mountains make sure you put this train ride as a MUST do!!!!! Great views and service. It's a gorgeous ride with plenty of history. Make sure you also enjoy the town of Bryson, plenty of small shops.

This is a trip back in time as you hear some of the history of the area. The depot is typical of a resort destination as for novelties and food. The ride is especially interesting depending on the time of year. Fall is the best and foliage is beautiful as is the trip to the dam. A lot to do... More

Rode in the Piedmont Car. It was a great trip and our Hostess, Renee really made the trip fun. Car was clean as were the restrooms. Had the sack lunches and they were very good. The hot dogs were hot and juicy and the BBQ sandwiches were hot and tasty as well. Only complaint was that the windows were dirty.... More

Nice ride, but pricey, especially when you add the parking fee. While in Bryson City, I visited the Sagebrush Coffeehouse, too and met the Cowboy. Excellent coffee and cool game room.

I child and photographer in me loved this. The train is a site to see, and honestly, the photos are great. During christmas, they convert this into a polar express and you see all the little kids out in their PJs at midnight! It's darling. We took the Tuckasegee River Ride, in October on a Monday. To get the full experience, we rode in the open car. Now even though it had to rain on our day, not the day before or after, it couldn't ruin the ride. I highly recommend the open car. We didn't get wet and the staff brought papertowels just in... Took the grandkids on the polar express and it was outstanding. These are precious times to share while they are still young. We all had a great time and expierence and would do it again.
