We paid extra for first class. If you can swing it, then I highly recommend this. You get a history lesson as the train moves slowly through scenic terrain, and a lunch that is quite tasty. They also serve beer; an added bonus! We rode in early spring and will probably return for a winter ride near Christmas.

Close to a five hour round trip made this a great value. Tim "the story teller" is the hidden gem here....he will find you. Great scenic ride to see both mountain and stream. The break/layover for a box lunch (recommended) by the whitewater stream is a real treat. Train cars and restrooms are clean. All of the staff is very... More

You go on an older railroad. It's kind of run down looking. There are several cars you can pick to ride for different prices. We opted for the most expensive "first class" (only adults over 21/table with padded chairs and paneled walls). Others were, "Family first class" (same but with kids), "open car" which is an enclosed cabin with no... More

This was a very relaxing afternoon excursion full of beautiful scenery, a delicious lunch and exceptional service! It was worth the price and we hope to do the Dillsboro ride in the future!!

We went on the 4 hour Nantahala excursion and were seated in first class dining. We all commented how surprised we were that the lunch we were served was so good. Sorry to say we had been prepared to be a bit disappointed and were thrilled that everything was delicious and beautifully prepared. The ride, the stop/ turnaround and the... More

We booked a train ride along with a hotel room as a package deal. The ride itself was totally relaxing and we enjoyed the 4 hour excursion, which included lunch and dessert. Prior to leaving the station we were entertained by Tim, the Teller of Tales. Once on board, the conductors traveled from car to car and revealed historical tidbits... More

5-19-15 http://www.gsmr.com/ Lynn from Tulsa review "Everything is true" did a great job on the review and must have been on the same ride but a different car. Hence I will not be redundant. We opted for the Crown Class, an upgrade which gave us free drinks in our souvenir cups the entire trip, climate control. large glass windows and... More

We actually purchased tickets for the Crown Class, which is very comfortable seating, air conditioning and an attendant on the car. After about 25 minutes into the ride we decided to go outside and that is where we stayed for the remainer of the trip. The weather was beautiful, the sites were lovely and the train was loud, but it... More
