Our 7 and 2 year old grandchildren rode on this trip. It's very safe for children. We took the one hour trip and it was perfect. Rode up the mountain and back down. Beautiful views with an element of surprise that I will not mention. Just go. You'll love it.

Our family of 4 visited these stables for the first time recently and had a perfectly good time. I had revered a 2 hour ride, however, I tip the scales at a little over 250lbs and I was unaware of this rule prior to arriving. I told the woman right away that I exceeded the limit, she inquired with a... More

Took my boyfriend out on the 4 hour ride ... He has never been on horseback before so this was a new adventure for him. With many group trips books for summer campers we were blessed with the 2 most ornery horses ... And they were pretty solid and thunder-proof! Junie (the guide) was sweet and wonderful! He kept telling... More

I took my son and his girlfriend, it was her first time, and she ended up in tears from the treatment we received from our "guide" I would have named him, but he didn't offer his name. There were 3 others ahead of us on our 1 hour tour which departed at 3:00 pm. We were instructed by the gentleman... More

Firstly I would like to apologize. We strive to be the best stable we can be and fell short. The guide in question has been identified and is no longer employed by the Nantahala Village Riding Stable. We would love to make this trip up to you and show you our true standards. More

The trip was cheap and worth it if you have children who have never been riding. That being said, any person who has riding experience would find this trip a bit dull. The horses, as to be expected, followed each other like a train and looked to be under proper care. The guides were nice but if you are more... More

We are a family of 5 and chose this as our first horseback riding experience. We thoroughly enjoyed the horses (Shirley, Flash, Jade, Pearl, and Rocky), as well as meeting Junie and Scott. The only drawback was the trail. It was nice, but no view, no lake, just trees. We found out after we had started that there was a... More

We had a 5 year old, a 4 year old and a 2 year old and all of them got to ride on a horse for a nice one-hour trip in the Nantahala Forest. It is an easy place to get to and the staff are very friendly and help out small children. Both the 4 year old and the... More

The people were wonderful. Horses were well cared for and gentle. Family friendly. We did the one hour ride and that was perfect.

Several members of the extended family booked a trail ride during our family reunion. Ages of the riders ranged from 6yo to mid 40s. Some of the children as well as adults had no previous riding experience. The staff at the stables was extremely organized and efficient as well as being quite safety conscious. Everyone totally enjoyed the ride, and... More
